Welcome to Day 5 of the Mid-Year Reset here on Insight Timer.

Your daily moment to pause,

Reflect and return to yourself.

Consistency is where real change begins.

Enjoy today's session.

Hi and welcome to this short embodied awareness somatic check-in.

My name is Kirsty Lyon and I'll be guiding you through a few minutes of gentle somatic exploration.

This is a practice of connecting with yourself through the language of the body.

Over time,

Regularly checking in like this can help support regulation,

Build trust in the body and cultivate a deeper sense of connection and presence.

So let's begin.

Whether you are seated or lying down,

Make sure that you feel comfortable.

Closing down the eyes can help with turning inward or you can keep a soft gaze.

Let's take a moment to be where the body is.

Perhaps you can feel your feet on the floor or the sit bones in the chair.

Where do you feel the support beneath you rising up to meet the body and allow yourself to be held by this steadiness.

Maybe you can already notice the body responding to this by settling,

Softening or opening.

Where in the body can you notice comfort or even neutrality?

And for a moment let's stay with any sensations of ease or groundedness.

I invite you to now expand your awareness to the rest of your body and sensing what else is here.

You might notice areas that feel more tense,

Heavy or activated.

Or you might not notice much at all and that's ok too.

Numbness or stillness are also valid sensations.

Think of this as observing your internal weather.

Just noticing and allowing what's moving through.

See if you can bring your attention to just one sensation that stands out.

And let's get curious and descriptive with it.

So perhaps it's a constriction,

A pulling,

A tingling or buzzing.

What word would you use to describe it?

Does it feel solid like a rock?

Or does it have movement like water or electricity?

Maybe there's a temperature,

Warm or cold?

Staying curious.

Notice any urge to get pulled into a story around the sensation.

Remember it isn't good or bad,

It may feel uncomfortable,

Comfortable or somewhere in between but at its core it's simply energy moving through.

As you're focusing your attention on this sensation,

Does it expand?

Or dissipate?

Or evolve?

Maybe it's staying the same.

There is no right or wrong with your experience.

Remember,

If you feel overwhelmed you can always return to the felt sense of the support beneath you and the steadiness holding your body.

Now can you expand that awareness to the boundaries or edges of the sensation?

Maybe you can notice where you feel less intensity or the absence of sensation.

And now gently begin to widen your attention.

Let your awareness include the whole body,

Any sensations that are still present,

Areas that you feel more settled or supported and the contact points with the ground or surface beneath you.

See if you can hold it all,

Whatever's here,

The soft open presence.

As we draw this somatic check into a close,

Take a moment to notice if anything has shifted or changed.

Remember you can return to this practice any time you need,

I'd love to hear how the experience was for you.

If your body could speak,

What might it be saying right now?

Thank you so much for joining me today.

First time I had done a somatic meditation - have had a difficult few days - discussing past trauma and the fall out from it. This meditation bought up a tense sensation in my tummy that seemed to then move to my shoulder and at the end of the meditation I sneezed! Have googled it and it seems this is a good reaction - so thank you! Will def come back again ๐Ÿ˜€
