When you're ready,
Begin to find a quiet and comfortable space.
Maybe you're seated,
Or maybe you're lying down with a straight spine,
And if it feels safe,
You can close your eyes,
Starting to notice the rhythm of your breath,
Feeling it as it moves through your body,
As it allows you to sink into this moment.
As we embark on this journey,
We're going to explore our relationship with self-approval,
With self-praise.
We're going to understand where our lack of self-praise comes from,
Why we continue this pattern,
This cycle,
And how to break free of it.
How to give yourself the praise you so desire,
And you so deserve.
Shifting your focus inward,
Start to notice any physical sensations or tension in your body.
With each breath,
Releasing any tightness,
Really allowing your body to let go,
Allowing your mind to be right here,
Acknowledging any sensations or thoughts without judgment,
Allowing yourself to fully inhibit your body and your mind,
Bringing your attention back to your breath,
Inhaling in deeply,
Feeling the breath fill your lungs,
And exhale slowly,
Letting go of any doubt or stress of the day,
Inhaling in,
And exhaling out,
And with each breath,
Being a little bit more present in this moment,
Freeing yourself from judgment and expectations,
And as you feel that breath move through your body,
I want you to ask the question,
How do I respond when someone compliments me?
How does it feel in my body?
Where do I feel it in my body?
Do I tense up?
Do I withdraw?
Does it make me cringe a little bit?
How do I respond when someone compliments me?
I want to offer you a little practice,
Starting to envision yourself getting a compliment,
Noticing a person in front of you,
Praising you for a good job done,
For a beautiful piece of art you've made,
For how pretty your hair looks,
Or your smile is,
Whatever you need to hear,
Imagine this person saying it,
Imagine them saying it with their bodies,
With their eyes,
And as you imagine this,
Shift your feelings,
Smile at this person,
And say thank you,
Filling your body with joy and with love,
Really radiating that out to this other person,
Maybe looking them in the eyes and just giving them a big smile,
And with each breath,
Letting that discomfort you originally felt,
Just leave your body,
Let it roll off your shoulders,
Let it wash off of you,
As you feel this new sensation of joy,
Of love,
Of gratitude for this person who just gave you this compliment that you've always wanted to hear,
That you always needed to hear,
And let that sensation radiate in your body,
In your fingers,
In your toes,
From your head to the ground,
Let it fill you,
Let it guide you,
Let it overcome you,
And maybe you imagine giving this person a hug,
Offering another way of your gratitude,
Inhaling in,
And exhaling out,
Asking yourself another question,
When I complete a large or small project at work or at home,
What do I say to myself?
Do I think about what needs to happen next?
Do I rush into the next task?
Do I belittle myself for not doing it perfectly?
What do I say to myself?
Do you take time to praise yourself,
To recognize your work and or your progress?
Do you take time to smile,
To fill your body with the gratitude for how far you've come,
For what you have completed,
For what you have made it through?
Or do you move on to the next thing,
To the next negative thought,
What can you say to yourself in this moment,
To praise yourself for how far you've come,
For that big task you've completed,
I am so proud of you,
You have made it so freaking far,
Thinking back to what life was like and what it is now,
You have done so much,
You are so worthy,
And I am so incredibly proud of you,
Saying to yourself thank you for everything you've done,
For the work you've done,
For the progress you've made,
For the growth you continue to embody,
I am so proud of you,
Letting these words fill you up,
Letting them radiate through every inch of your muscle and bone,
And then saying anything else you need to hear,
Praising yourself for how far you've come,
For the work you've done,
From the little tasks like doing the dishes,
Brushing your teeth,
Getting in the shower,
To the big life changes you've endured,
That you've chosen,
That you've gotten through,
Praise yourself for each and every little thing because you deserve it,
You deserve to feel that love,
To feel the joy and the gratitude of self,
You deserve every little feeling,
So give it to yourself,
Inhaling in,
And exhaling out,
Imagining a warm golden light surrounding you,
This light represents self-approval and unconditional love,
As it envelops you,
Feel a sensation of acceptance and affirmation,
Visualizing all of the praise you ever needed to hear,
Surrounding you in the glow of this loving light,
And when you're ready,
Gently bring your awareness back to the present moment,
Feeling that inhale and exhale moving through your body once again,
Maybe wiggling your fingers and your toes,
And when you're ready,
Open your eyes and let a smile fill your face,
Carry the warmth of self-approval,
Of self-praise with you throughout your day,
Remembering that you are always allowed to say,
I am so proud of you,
You are always allowed to slow down and take time to praise yourself for the hard work you've done,
And on the days that feels a little too hard,
Remembering that this meditation is here for you,
To support you on this journey of self-love,
Self-improvement and self-gratification,
On this journey of self-praise and self-love.
