When you're ready,
Slowly beginning to find yourself in a comfortable position,
Maybe that's seated or laying down.
Wherever you find yourself,
Beginning to settle in,
To notice the space you've created already.
Noticing the ground beneath you,
Or the bed you're lying on.
Maybe bringing awareness to the sounds around you,
Or the lack thereof.
Maybe you really just tune into my voice,
Letting everything else around you disappear.
And whenever you're ready,
Beginning to tap into that breath.
Noticing the inhales and the exhales.
Noticing them without changing them,
And then maybe deepening them just a little bit.
Inhaling in to fill up those lungs,
And exhaling out,
Letting it all go.
Throughout the day,
We lose track of our breath.
We get lost in the next thing,
In our to-do list.
And oftentimes,
If we can just remember to check in with our breath,
To recenter,
To refocus,
Things become way more clear.
Things smooth out.
The world seems a little bit smaller.
Inhaling in,
And exhaling out.
I was sitting at the beach the other day,
Watching as the waves came in and came out,
As their natural rhythm did not change for me.
And I felt the feeling of insignificance,
Of connectedness,
Of peace.
The knowing that my actions cannot change what is going on out there.
That what I do has very little effect,
Because the ocean is going to go in and go out no matter what.
And that brings peace.
Inhaling in,
And exhaling out.
Knowing that the world revolves no matter your decision.
That tomorrow will be tomorrow.
That the waves will continue to move.
That what feels so big,
So significant to you in the grand scheme of things,
Is miniscule.
To feel that connection to the ocean,
Knowing how my breath moves just as the ocean does too.
Inhaling in as that wave comes in,
And exhaling out as it retracts back to the sea.
Visualizing that ocean in front of you.
As it comes in,
You fill up your lungs.
And as it goes out,
You let go.
Feeling the peace of knowing that the waves go on no matter what you do.
And you can either breathe with them,
Or work against them.
Inhaling in,
And exhaling out.
Inhaling in,
And exhaling out.
And when you're ready,
Inhaling in to fill up those lungs completely to the very tippy top.
And then opening your mouth,
Letting it all go.
One more time,
Inhaling in,
Imagining your breath pulling that wave into shore.
And as you exhale,
Imagine it pushing that water out.
And when you're ready,
Coming back to this moment.
Bringing your attention back to the ground beneath you,
To the chair,
To the bed.
And at your own pace,
At your own time,
Opening your eyes whenever you're ready.
