Begin by finding a comfortable position,
Find a chair or the ground,
Maybe you're sitting on a pillow or you're laying down,
Whatever is most comfortable,
Find that position.
Maybe you let your eyes close and start tapping into your breath,
Inhaling in and exhaling out,
Maybe taking your first deep breath of the day,
Your first mindful breath of the day,
Inhaling in,
Filling up all the capacity of your lungs and opening your mouth,
Exhaling it all out,
Dropping into this moment,
Bringing your awareness to your spine,
To your low back,
Breathing into the spots that feel tension,
Maybe it's your neck,
Maybe it's your shoulders,
Or the space right in between your shoulder blades,
Wherever it is,
Notice it and then send your breath there,
Listening to your body,
Understanding where you hold tension and when you need to breathe just a little bit deeper into those spots,
And as you notice the tension,
Begin to bring awareness to the thoughts that are playing across your mind,
Letting them come through like branches floating down a river,
Noticing them and then letting them move on,
And maybe if you get stuck on one,
One that seems to not want to move down the river,
Send some love to that thought,
Say thank you for bringing that to my awareness,
For worrying about that,
Thank you,
But it's time to move on,
Inhaling in and exhaling out,
Allowing your brain to sort through everything that it needs to sort through,
Everything that's been reoccurring,
Everything that needs space,
Allow your brain to watch the thoughts as they cross through the river of your mind,
Noticing them and knowing that you are not your thoughts,
But merely a vessel for them,
Inhaling in and exhaling out,
Beginning to come back to your breath,
To the rhythm of your lungs,
Inhaling and exhaling,
Thanking yourself for being here,
For creating the space,
For deciding to show up for you today,
Thank you for showing up for me today,
And remembering that all you ever need is your breath,
Taking one final inhale,
Filling up every little crevice of your lungs,
Of your chest,
Of your head,
And then as you exhale,
Feel the breath move out your nose as it exhales each breath.
