Welcome to the key meditation.

This is a deep form of relaxation designed to help you overcome stress and to release anything inside that you have been harbouring and that no longer serves you.

So to begin,

Let's just take a deep cleansing breath together in through our nose and out through our mouth.

And let's take another one,

Making sure we release with a deep sigh in.

If you haven't done so already,

Make sure you are comfy and gently close your eyes.

Now imagine a ball of light above your head.

This ball of light can be any colour you wish.

It may be golden like the sun or you may choose green for healing,

Blue for protection,

Or perhaps pink for love.

This is your light.

You choose what colour you are going to put into it.

Now imagine this ball of light travelling down and reaching your crown,

Going past your eyes.

And even though your eyes are already closed,

Just feel them close that little bit more.

It travels down past your cheeks,

Softening them as you go.

Past your ears,

Turning down the volume of any outside noise.

And down,

Past your throat and over your shoulders,

Relaxing them.

As the light travels down past your chest,

Take another deep breath and release.

Feel your body begin to relax.

Feel your body begin to let go.

The light continues to travel down past your arms and down over your stomach,

Relaxing all those muscles.

The light continues past your bottom and your pelvic region,

Bringing calm and relaxation as it goes.

Travels past your thighs,

Over your knees,

Down your calves,

And it finally reaches your feet.

You are now surrounded by a beautiful cocoon of colour.

You are feeling completely safe.

You are feeling calm.

You are relaxed.

Now imagine you are walking somewhere busy and you can see people and so many things around you.

You hear the noise of the hustle and bustle.

There are many people there.

Some are looking tired and worn out.

Some are looking happy and joyful.

And some are looking calm and relaxed.

One of these calm and relaxed people comes over to you and they say,

This too shall pass.

This too shall pass.

They point to a doorway and they hand you a key.

Walk over to that doorway and unlock it.

Open the door.

It may need a little nudge.

That's okay.

Step through the door and close it behind you.

You are safe.

You are in the most serene and relaxed place you have ever seen.

You are safe.

You are peaceful.

You are calm.

Feel the lightness of your body.

Notice the colours all around you and the beautiful sounds of this serene place.

In front of you,

You see a path.

Where is this path?

Perhaps you are in a meadow.

Perhaps you are on a beach.

Perhaps you are in a woodland.

This is your place.

You can be wherever you want to be.

Walk along your path now.

Look around.

You have never felt so calm.

You have never felt so relaxed.

You have never felt so safe.

This is your place.

This is your safe place.

Just in front of you is somewhere to sit.

Take yourself there and sit down.

Feel a blanket of warmth surround you.

You are calm.

You are relaxed.

You are safe.

You can hear some words on the breeze and you repeat them as you hear them.

I am capable.

I am safe.

I am calm.

I am grounded.

I am safe.

I am safe.

I am calm.

I am grounded.

I am free of stress.

I am at peace.

I can accomplish anything I want.

I find gratitude in every day.

I am light.

You stay sitting here for a while,

Feeling the warmth and safety of your blanket.

It does not matter how long you sit.

It does not matter how long you stay for.

You have never felt so calm.

You have never felt so safe.

You know that you can return to this place in any moment of need.

All you need to do is close your eyes and breathe.

For now,

It is time to go back along your path and back to the door.

This time,

The door opens with ease and you step through it,

Taking all your positive,

Calm,

Relaxing and safe thoughts with you.

You now walk with purpose.

Ahead of you,

You see someone and you notice how stressed and anxious they look.

You hand them a key and you show them a door.

This is not the same door as yours.

This is their door,

Designed just for them.

You realise that you don't need a key for your door anymore.

Your door is always ready and open for you when you need it.

You are safe now.

You are calm.

You are relaxed.

You are free.

From now on,

You have your blanket of protection with you to keep you safe,

To keep you calm and to keep you relaxed.

Right now,

We need to talk to the part of you that has heightened sensitivity and has been protecting you for so long.

That part of you has been doing a fantastic job up until now.

But we need to tell that part of you to start to turn the volume down,

To start to dull its colours.

That part of you needs to know that you are safe,

That you are calm,

That you are relaxed and that you are so capable.

Thank that part of you for protecting you.

But it is now necessary for it to take a back seat.

You have got this.

Remember,

You are capable.

You are calm.

You are relaxed.

And you are safe.

Now I am going to count from one to five to bring you back from this deep relaxation.

One,

Start to become aware of the sounds around you.

Two,

Move and wiggle your fingers and toes.

Three,

Becoming aware of the surface beneath you.

Four,

Taking your time,

Take a deep breath.

And five,

You are back to the here and the now.

Feel your connection back to the ground.

Feel the surface beneath you.

Feel your clothes on your body.

Take a deep breath in and out.

Move your head and neck a little from side to side.

Rub the palms of your hands together and place them over your eyes.

Slowly open your eyes.

Welcome back.
