This series consists of a collection of letters for young women, letters to celebrate, console and encourage during a time in life that can feel relentlessly hard and alienate. The thread through each of these letters is that the wisdom and love we so desperately crave is within ourselves. Our task is to find and inhabit the most truthful and vibrant expression of ourselves at a time when the world is desperately in need of empowered women.

Script

This series consists of a collection of letters to young women.

Letters to celebrate,

Console,

And encourage.

It began with a book named Unlearning Who I Became,

Which has now been adapted for Peacebeam into this series,

Letters to a Young Woman.

The title has been inspired by Rilke's work,

Letters to a Young Poet.

Life's challenges are worthy of contemplation and honouring,

As they are the unavoidable weathering which awaits anyone who is blessed enough to live through its seasons.

These are letters to acknowledge that you are more than your mistakes,

You are more than your successes,

And you are more than what you look like.

It is a life's work to become intimate with the details of who you are,

And this knowledge will not be rushed.

These letters are written from the part of myself that has allowed me to be on my own side,

To be my own cheerleader,

My own friend,

And my own parent.

They are the small voice of that internal light,

The one that guides us through the darkest of nights,

And the pain of being alive feels unbearable.

These letters are a gentle reminder that home can never be anything or anyone outside of ourselves.

Our hope is that you can find consolation in the form you need,

Should you be experiencing insecurity,

Self-doubt,

Anger,

Or heartbreak.

What you need to know is you are not alone.

We are very much in this together.

The letters have been categorised so you can find the one that speaks most directly to you in any given moment.

Treat them a little like you would meditation.

Settle yourself,

Close your eyes,

And allow yourself to witness your state without judgement as you let the words land.

A wise person once said that to take away someone's pain would be to steal their true medicine.

So here is a collection of short pauses to contemplate the pain,

Joy,

And confusion of being human,

As these form the chrysalis from which we are destined to break free.

It's the struggle from the chrysalis of our own self-doubt that is the exact magic needed to strengthen our wings,

Making us strong enough to fly.

It is all perfect,

You just don't see it yet.
