Watching The Mind: A Gentle Practice Of Awareness In Metacognition

Par Mark Rowland

Commencer Jour 1
Ce que vous apprendrez
This five-day course invites you to develop a gentle awareness of how your mind works, moment by moment. Through short teachings and longer guided meditations, you’ll learn how to notice thoughts as they arise, recognise familiar mental patterns, and relate to your inner experience with greater ease. Rather than analysing or changing the mind, the focus is on cultivating awareness itself as a steady, supportive presence. Over the course of the week, this practice helps create space around thinking, supports emotional balance, and offers a more grounded way of meeting daily life. The intention is to help you rest more often in awareness, carrying this quality of noticing into everyday moments beyond the meditation itself.

Leçon 1
Learning To Notice Thought
In this first session, you are invited to begin noticing how thoughts arise and move through awareness. Rather than analysing the mind, today focuses on simple recognition. Seeing thoughts as they appear, linger, and pass. Through gentle teaching and a longer guided meditation, you’ll begin to experience how awareness itself can create space, steadiness, and ease.
Leçon 2
Meeting The Inner Voice
Today explores the inner voice that comments, narrates, and reacts throughout the day. Rather than trying to silence or analyse it, this session invites you to hear that voice with awareness. Through teaching and meditation, you’ll begin recognising the tone and movement of inner commentary and relating to it with more space and steadiness.
Leçon 3
Seeing Patterns And Loops
Today explores the repeating patterns of thought that shape much of our inner life. Many thoughts arrive in familiar loops. This session invites you to recognise those patterns without pressure, allowing awareness to remain steady while they unfold. Through teaching and meditation, you’ll begin relating to mental habits with patience and compassion.
Leçon 4
Finding Choice In Awareness
Today explores the space inside awareness where choice becomes visible. Thoughts and impulses often move quickly, yet awareness can reveal a moment of pause before action. This session invites you to notice that pause. Through teaching and meditation, you’ll begin recognising how awareness allows responses to emerge with more clarity and steadiness.
Leçon 5
Resting As The Observer
In this final session, the practice becomes simpler and more spacious. Rather than focusing on specific aspects of thought, today invites you to rest as awareness itself. Through minimal guidance and longer periods of silence, you’ll experience what it feels like to remain present while thoughts, emotions, and sensations move freely within awareness.
