Your first micro break is a Qigong breathing exercise that is called the Si Si Hu technique that will help you release stress,
Fatigue,
Overthinking and welcome clarity,
Calm and ease.
It is ideal to practice this once you wake up in the morning,
Whatever time that is,
But you can do this anytime during the day as well when you need to recharge and refresh your respiratory system.
Si means to inhale and Hu is the sound of a long exhale.
For this technique you'll take two short inhales through your nose,
The first into the lower level of your lungs,
Expanding your belly,
Gently pushing your diaphragm and then the second into the upper layer or level of your lungs.
Then you take a long exhale out through your nose or your mouth,
Whichever you prefer.
You can practice this seated or standing,
Whichever best suits you.
I'll guide you through the process.
Please now come into a comfortable seated or standing position.
Exhale and relax the weight of your body down on to the surface supporting you such as the ground or the chair.
Now notice your breath,
Feel the rise and fall of your breath and notice the quality,
Texture and length of your breath.
If you wish to,
You're welcome to place one palm on your belly and the other palm on your chest and if it feels good for you,
Let your eyes gently close.
We will now prepare for CC Hu breathing,
Doing this for a total of 20 times.
Later as you take the two short breaths in,
Visualize the first breath going in deep and filling your belly and then the second one filling your chest and then as you breathe out slowly,
Imagine the breath leaving your belly,
Then your lungs.
It sounds a little like this.
Are you ready?
Let's start by taking three regular breaths in and out.
We'll take a deep breath in and a long breath out.
Your second deep breath in and your long breath out.
And here's your third and last deep breath in and your long breath out and now we begin.
Now gently let go of this breathing technique and allow your breathing to return to its normal and natural rhythm.
Notice how you feel.
You are welcome to do this micro break at the start and the end of your day and it will help to boost and balance your vital energy.
