The key to softening one’s grip and flowing with life lies in the present. As an essential component of Wuwei, this is a skill that you can, with intentional and sustained practice, get better at. This short guided morning affirmations practice will empower you to soften your grip, inviting you to surrender to the things you cannot control and instead flow with them. This practice comes from the course, The Water Way: Beyond Fear Into Flow & Freedom.

The key to softening one's grip and flowing with life lies in the present.

As an essential component of wu wei,

A micro practice or skill that you can,

With intentional and sustained practice,

Get better at,

I invite you to connect with some affirmations so that you can soften your grip.

You may wish to half or fully close your eyes,

If that feels good to you.

If you prefer to keep your eyes open,

Hold a soft gaze,

But draw your awareness inwards.

You may wish to repeat and say this aloud,

Or you can repeat this silently in your mind.

Or if you wish,

You can simply listen to them as I say these affirmations.

Know that each affirmation is true,

Even if it may not seem true right now.

I release preconceived notions of how life should be.

I release preconceived notions of how life should be.

I release preconceived notions of how life should be.

I softened my grip on the things I cannot control.

I softened my grip on the things I cannot control.

I softened my grip on the things I cannot control.

I open to all possibilities life has for me.

I open to all possibilities life has for me.

I open to all possibilities life has for me.

I surrender to the synchronicity of love and life.

I surrender to the synchronicity of love and life.

I surrender to the synchronicity of love and life.

What I seek is seeking me.

What I seek is seeking me.

What I seek is seeking me.

Linger for as long as you would like,

Connecting with the truth of these affirmations.

If and when you feel your practice is complete,

Allow yourself to gradually transition.

Noticing any sounds,

Smells,

Sensations from outside of you.

Slowly take a full deep breath in,

Harnessing all the energy of this practice.

And as you exhale,

Take a long breath out.

And when you feel ready,

If your eyes are closed,

Gently let them blink open.

For the rest of today,

Practice softening your grip and engage in the practice of allowing through all of your interactions with yourself and the world.
