Welcome to this anxiety meditation.
If you're listening with headphones you will hear that I've recorded a heartbeat in the background,
Very very gentle,
Very very subtle.
But I recorded this heartbeat while I was embodying an energy of love,
An energy of healing.
So feel free to put on headphones and take that in.
We often look at anxiety as a negative emotion,
As something we shouldn't or don't want to experience.
Because it doesn't feel good,
It's painful.
Would it be more helpful to look at anxiety or any emotion that we call negative as misunderstood?
Because really these emotions are not there to punish us,
They're just natural mechanisms of the body to tell us something or to keep us safe.
So what we need to figure out is anxiety.
What are you telling me?
What are you trying to keep me safe from?
How did you get here?
And when we can do that,
It will start to loosen its tight grip on us.
Because whatever you resist will persist.
And if we let go of this resistance and instead start to explore why it's here,
There is no doubt that it will start to loosen its grip and let in more centered,
More grounded and much lighter emotions and experiences.
In order to understand why it's here,
We need to first find it in the body.
We need to first become familiar with it.
What is anxiety for you?
For me,
It's either a general sense of something always going wrong,
Something terrible being around the corner or fear of a future event happening that I really don't want to happen,
That I am resisting.
So tune into this feeling and understand what you're looking for.
Tune into your body at the same time and see if you can pick up any tensions anywhere that anxiety may be residing.
And don't judge it.
Just pay attention to what is here.
Just feeling what is here.
Dropping any resistance.
Having no desire for it to be different,
But instead having a desire to understand what it feels like.
Because our goal is to understand the misunderstood.
So it's natural that we inquire what we're dealing with.
Once we're familiar with what we're looking for,
Once we're familiar with what it feels like,
We can ask the anxiety a question.
Why are you here?
We are not saying don't be here.
We are saying and asking why are you here?
And then let's create some space to see if any answers come through.
Not rejecting anything.
Being open to all answers.
Tuning into your power as the observer,
As the listener,
As the one looking to understand.
You appreciate the insights that you're gaining here.
And you realize that all this feeling wants to do is send you a message.
It does not want to punish you.
It is not working against you.
It is working with you.
It is a natural mechanism of your body.
And there's beauty in that as painful as it is,
As painful as it can be.
Here's what a friend told me recently when I was working through some difficult emotions.
He said,
Felix,
The fact you're feeling,
The fact you're so sensitive means you are alive.
If you couldn't feel any of this,
That wouldn't be a good thing.
So listen,
Feel,
Allow it space.
Can you look at it from a different angle?
Does it then start to loosen its grip on you?
Can you think that a miracle and something amazing is around every corner?
When we're willing to face our anxiety,
When we're willing to face any difficult emotions and we were willing to let them be exactly as they are,
The answer of why it's here tends to reveal itself to us,
Even if just in small ways.
The grip starts to loosen even if just in small ways.
Seeing that because you've listened,
And because you were willing to understand,
You were willing to change your mind about what you're feeling.
A gap is open for you,
A gap where your true calm sense itself can shine through.
Can you feel the calmness in your body as you breathe in slowly and breathe out slowly through the nose?
How this calmness overcomes every single cell of your body.
Resting in this moment where you are safe.
Tapping in to a joy of being alive.
Knowing that there's light at the end of the tunnel and nothing is wrong with you,
You are a beautiful being.
A beautiful being that is on a mission of understanding what these feelings are telling you,
But not getting too obsessed with it,
Always allowing space and not judging what is there.
With time and continued practice,
That is the recipe for an emotionally well-balanced life,
Regardless of what goes on on the outside.
And not blaming ourselves for having felt or having misjudged emotions,
Having misunderstood emotions.
That is fine.
Often these things are placed into us by society or other people,
But we should never take on a victim mentality,
But instead take full responsibility for our life and the way that we respond.
Because that means the power is in our hands.
Even if it doesn't feel like that sometimes,
And even if that feels like a big burden to carry,
The power is in your hands.
You will construct your future beautifully.
Moving through your day,
Moving through your moments,
Thinking that something beautiful is right around the corner.
Knowing that the only truth there is,
Is the present moment.
No thoughts about the future,
No thoughts about the past are true.
Only what is here right now.
And right now you have your breath to ground you.
That is always there for you.
Regardless of how much you misunderstand the feelings you may be going through.
Thank you so much for meditating with me today.
Have a beautiful day.
Much love.
