Take a breath with me.
Just one.
In through the nose and a long,
Slow exhale.
Good.
You are here.
And that already.
Takes a kind of courage.
I want to ask you something before we begin.
And I don't need you to answer out loud.
Just let it land somewhere inside you.
When was the last time you were truly gentle with yourself?
Not performing wellness,
Not ticking the meditation box.
But actually soft with yourself.
Kind.
Patient.
For most of us,
That question brings up a quiet ache.
Because somewhere along the way,
We learn to be our own harshest critic.
We learned to push through,
To minimize,
To carry on.
Today we are going to slow down.
We are going to meet the part of you that has been waiting.
Patiently,
Quietly,
For you to come back.
Are you ready to meet them?
Let's go in bar together.
Please find a comfortable position.
Sitting or lying down.
Wherever your body can be at ease,
Allow your eyes to gently close or soften your gaze toward the floor.
You are going to take three breaths.
Together to arrive fully in this moment.
Inhale slowly,
Hold for just a moment.
And exhale.
Releasing anything that you don't need to carry right now.
Again,
Inhale and exhale.
One more,
Inhale deeply.
And let it all go.
You are here.
You are safe.
This time belongs entirely to you.
Begin to notice the weight of your body.
The places where you are supported.
By the chair,
The floor,
The earth beneath you.
Feel that support.
You don't have to hold yourself up right now.
You are held.
Starting at the top of your head Let your scalp soften,
Your forehead your muscles around your eyes.
Your jaw.
Letting your teeth part slightly.
Your shoulders releasing downwards.
Your hands open and soft.
With each exhale,
Let your body become a little heavier.
Little more at rest.
In your mind's eye.
I invite you to imagine.
A place where you feel completely safe.
It might be somewhere from your past,
A garden.
A room,
A favorite corner of nature.
Or it might be a place your imagination creates just for you.
Right now.
There is no right or wrong here.
Take a moment to look around this place.
Notice the light colors what you might hear in the distance What the air feels like against your skin.
Feel your feet on the ground here.
Feel how safe this place is.
Nothing can come here without your permission.
This space is entirely yours.
And now In the distance,
You notice a child walking toward you This is you.
A younger version of yourself.
They might be very small.
Breathe.
Four,
Five years old.
Or perhaps a little older.
Trust whatever age arrives.
Take a moment to really look at them.
Notice what they are wearing the expression on their face.
The way they hold themselves.
As they come closer,
You notice something in their eyes.
Perhaps there is curiosity.
Perhaps a little hesitation.
Perhaps something that looks like longing This child has been waiting.
Not with anger,
Just waiting.
To be seen.
Be welcomed back Gently you move toward them.
You kneel down so that you are at their level,
Eye to eye Heart to heart.
And you say.
.
.
Silently.
Or in your heart.
These words.
I see you.
I am sorry it took me so long.
To find my way back.
You were never too much.
You were never not enough.
Your feelings matter.
Your needs matter.
You matter.
Notice what happens in your body as you offer these words.
There may be suffering.
There may be warmth in your chest.
Or tears that rise gently to the surface.
Whatever arises.
They'd be welcome.
Nothing here needs to be pushed away.
If it feels right.
Open your arms.
And this child?
This little version of you steps forward.
And lets themselves be held.
Feel the weight of them.
Feel how small they are how much they needed exactly this.
And as you hold them.
Breathe together.
In and out.
You are not just comforting the past.
You are healing something in your presence.
Every breath you take together is an act of self-compassion.
Every moment you choose to stay,
To hold,
To witness,
This is how we come home to ourselves.
Before you part for now.
Because this relationship continues well beyond this meditation.
You offer this child a gift.
It might be a word.
A color,
A feeling or a small simple object.
Let your intuition bring something forward.
Whatever it is,
Offer it gently.
Watch them receive it.
Notice the shift in their face and they offer something back to you.
A piece of your own aliveness.
Your wonder.
Your capacity to feel joy without permission.
Receive it.
Let it settle in your heart.
It was always yours.
Slowly it is time to return.
You let your inner child know that you will come back.
That they are not abandoned,
That they are a part of you,
Cherished,
Welcome,
And help.
You watch them settle peacefully into this safe place trusting now at rest.
And you begin to return to your body.
Feeling the weight of yourself in the room?
The sensation of your breath moving in and out Sounds beginning to return around you.
Gently begin to deepen your breath.
Move your fingers,
Your toes.
Take your time.
And when you are ready Softly.
Open your eyes.
Welcome back.
Take a moment before you move,
Before you reach for your phone or step back into your day.
Just sit with what you have touched in there.
Healing the inner child is not a single event.
It is a practice,
A returning again and again.
To that place of self-kindness every time you choose compassion over self-criticism.
Every time you slow down enough to ask What do I need right now?
Every time you answer that question with honesty and care You are doing something quietly radical here.
In a world that asks us to be endlessly productive,
Endlessly achieving,
You are choosing to be tender with yourself,
To go inward instead of onward.
That matters.
You matter.
Take good care of yourself today and remember that little one inside you They are so glad you came.
Until next time.
