I am constant change.
– Zachary Phillips Who am I other than constant change?
Who am I other than constant change?
Thoughts come and go.
Same with emotion,
Memory,
And desire.
I'm not who I was a moment ago,
And who I am won't last.
I'm not who I was a moment ago,
And who I am won't last.
I am constant change.
I am the thread of time.
Birth to death,
Ever-changing,
Ever-growing,
Never the same.
Never the same.
I am constant change.
I accept this change,
Embrace it,
Lean into it.
Therefore,
I won't delete my past.
It was me.
I won't delete my past.
It was me.
Just as much me as my desire to delete it.
Who knows what I'll think in four minutes?
I am constant change.
When you turn and look upon yourself,
When you turn the camera inwards and observe,
It's very easy to see that who you are,
Or what you are,
Is constantly shifting.
When angry,
You feel overwhelmed and overcome by that anger.
When tired,
When excited,
When in love,
When happy,
Your emotions have a way of shaping and twisting who you see you are and how you see the world.
It's like you're looking through coloured glass.
The whole world is tinted by the lens,
Right?
How you see the world is altered by the glass you are looking out of.
It's the same for your inner world.
Just as how you see the world being altered by the glass that you're looking out of,
The same is true for your inner world.
Your emotions,
Your moods,
Your memories,
Your mental state,
All impact how you see the world,
And all impact who you are.
But the thing is,
Who are you at your core?
You are that change.
You are that flow.
You are the thing that moves from emotion to emotion to mood to memory.
All those things,
All at once.
Who am I other than constant change?
Thoughts come and go.
Same with emotion,
Memory,
And desire.
I am not who I was a moment ago,
And who I am won't last.
I am not who I was a moment ago,
And who I am won't last.
I am constant change.
I am the thread of time.
Birth to death,
Ever changing,
Ever growing,
Never the same.
I am constant change.
I accept this change.
I accept this change.
Embrace it.
Lean into it.

Just as much me as my desire to delete it.
Who knows what I will think in four minutes?
I am constant change.
These inner worlds,
These emotions,
They come and go.
But when they come,
They feel permanent.
They are who you are.
And that's what you'll always be.
But if you just step back,
And turn,
And look,
You will see that very quickly the mood passes.
And now you're the next thing.
And now you're the next thing.
And now you're the next.
This is why we practice meditation.
This is why we introspect.
It's to see the fact that we are constant change.
But then the real beauty comes from when you accept it.
From when you lean into it.
From when you let go of the safety rail and jump.
From when you take the plunge and risk it and accept that you are the change.
Accept that you are the process.
This requires a bit of a leap of faith.
Because you have to realize that you are the process.
That you're not the stable identity.
That you're the process walking through the world,
Interacting with other processes.
There is this interesting thing that happens when you interact with someone.
You influence them,
And they influence you.
You both come out of that interaction changed.
You read a poem,
Or a book.
You listen to music.
You watch a movie.
And you're no longer who you were prior to listening.
You were no longer who you were four minutes ago.
Right?
You are constant change.
We all are.
Who am I,
Other than constant change?
Thoughts come and go.
Same with emotion,
Memory,
And desire.
I am not who I was a moment ago.
And who I am won't last.
Who I am won't last.
I am constant change.
