Marusya created this visualization inspired by the Hanami Festival, which celebrates the beauty of cherry blossoms and the beginning of spring. She used it with her students to transport them into a spring garden where they could experience the sounds and sights of the season.

Make yourself cozy and comfortable.

Drop your shoulders,

Relax your muscles.

If it is okay with you,

Close your eyes.

Otherwise,

Keep them half closed or drop your gaze to the ground.

Take a deep breath in.

One,

Two,

Three.

Hold it and then release slowly.

Three,

Two,

One.

Let's inhale at the count of three again.

Hold it for a second and then slowly exhale,

Counting in your mind.

Do it two more times but at your own pace.

See yourself sitting on a carpet of soft grass.

Its green color makes you feel relaxed.

A little log hops next to you and its melodic song puts a smile on your face.

Something swishes in the distance and the chirpy brown bird flies away.

Your nose catches a fragrant scent and when you look up you notice you're sitting under a canopy of beautiful blossoms.

You're surrounded by dozens of cherry trees and the different shades of pink and white petals remind you that spring has arrived.

How does this make you feel?

Inhale and take a whiff of the creamy vanilla fragrance that fills the air.

The sun rays dancing through the tree branches gently caress your skin and their warmth invites you to take off your jacket.

You lie on the grass in a childhood recollection pops into your head.

You remember picking cherries in your grandparents garden and enjoying their sweet taste with your friends.

What other memories and tastes does this smell evoke?

Suddenly a light breeze rustles the blossoms and a flurry of petals covers your hair.

You pick one and notice its delicate hues of pink and how fragile it is.

The wind catches the petal and carries it away.

Now let's go back to your breath.

Inhale slowly and then exhale.

Let's do it two more times.

Breathe in and out.

In and out.

Move your fingers and toes gently.

Wake up your body gradually and finally open your eyes.

A lovely visualization practice. I had the privilege of listening to this meditation while traveling in Sapporo, Japan, and experiencing the cherry blossoms the after their full bloom. This track brought me back to the feelings of peace and wonder when I in a park absorbing the calm beauty of the blossoms. It was great to relive the enchanting experience through this meditation and embrace the renewal and hope of spring.
