This is a breathing meditation designed to offer you maximum relaxation,
Alertness,
And presence.
Find a comfortable position for this meditation.
Maintain a straight back with its natural curves.
Then,
Gently close the eyes and mouth.
The body has an intelligence that is able to turn raw material into energy for us to use.
It turns a banana into fuel.
It receives that banana and makes it part of the human body.
This is miraculous,
But not many of us truly recognize and understand how this works.
We do not give our body's intelligence much credit.
The amazing thing about this is we do not even need to think about it.
We just have to be conscious of what we do with our body to create the right outcome.
If we put junk food into our system,
We feel lethargic.
We may not notice it anymore,
But our body is not receiving the nourishment it has been designed to receive.
In the long term,
We fall into a state of dis-ease and abnormalities begin to form.
If we put wholesome food in our system,
We feel deeply sated and energized.
The body's intelligence knows what to do naturally without any force.
Millions of years of evolution are informing this intelligence,
Yet most of us don't have a clue of what to do with it.
Just as our body knows what to do with food and how it can elevate our experience with it,
So it knows what to do with air and how the breath can enhance this life within us.
In this meditation,
I'll be showing you how you can use the body's intelligence and the breath to work hand in hand in locating any tension within the body and flushing it out of your system.
You need to trust in the body's ability to heal itself and know what's going on beyond your awareness.
By placing your awareness in a space of knowing where the mind takes a back seat and allows your energies to align and show you the way,
You can tap into the evolutionary,
Innate,
And totally extraordinary wisdom of the body and heal itself.
To support turning your attention inward,
You might begin by taking an intentional posture that supports the ease of sitting in a comfortable position and the wakefulness of sitting upright.
If you can adjust your body to be even just 10% more comfortable and stable,
Feel free to do so.
Next,
Take a moment to notice your body in this position.
You can place your awareness on your hands and where they're making contact with your legs,
Your feet and where they're making contact with the floor,
Your head and the space around your head,
Your chest and abdomen,
And the expanding and contracting,
Your butt and the contact with the surface beneath you,
Supporting you.
Now notice your body from the inside,
Begin to tune into your breath in your body,
Feeling the natural flow of breath.
You don't need to do anything to it.
Let yourself relax and become curious about the body,
Just seated here.
The sensations of your body,
The connection with the surface beneath you,
How do you feel the breath in your body right now?
What sensations come up as you breathe?
Are they pleasant or unpleasant?
The signals of tension within the body are invitations,
Are invitations to generate compassion and heal.
They are not just a sensation that you must live with.
They are not just a part of life.
They are messages from the body that are inviting you to learn from them and heal.
So welcome the sensations in your body,
In your current state of mind.
What is coming up to the surface of your attention as you simply sit here and breathe?
Follow any sensations from the beginning of the inhalation all the way to the ending of the exhalation.
Relax into the center of your body,
Located in the middle of your chest,
Just behind your sternum and begin to feel your breath deepen and soften into your lower abdomen.
As you breathe in through your nose,
Pull in the air into your belly and feel your belly rise more than your chest.
Breathe in and feel the goodness of receiving a full breath of air,
Providing your body with the nutrients it needs to sustain itself.
And breathe out and allowing that tension to melt,
Sinking deeper into the support of the earth.
Let every inhalation be a chance to open your senses and really feel what's here and now.
And let every exhalation be a chance to melt any tension into the earth and be recycled.
Feel the stress untangle and melt down and off the body and down into Mother Earth.
Just as the body's intelligence knows what to do with food and how to get rid of what it does not need,
The earth's intelligence knows what to do with what you release.
Trust it,
Know it,
Feel it.
Breathe in and open your senses.
Breathe out and allow tension to melt into the earth.
Breathe in and open your senses.
Breathe out and allow tension to melt into the earth.
Breathe in and open your senses.
Breathe out and allow tension to melt into the earth.
Breathe in and open your senses.
Breathe out and allow tension to melt into the earth.
The goal here is not to find all the tension and move it out of your system.
The goal is to welcome the information.
The goal is to be receptive and welcoming of the information that your body is able to show you and to learn how to listen and trust it and yourself to know what to do with it.
When we listen and welcome what's here and now,
Tension melts by itself.
Expansive awareness allows all that is not needed to simply melt away.
Notice that as you gently place your awareness within the body,
You are able to feel the body the more your body and mind begins to open and relax into the earth.
Namaste.
