Welcome,
And thank you for joining me in this quick reminder to experience each breath,
One breath at a time.
Breathing brings you home,
Body and mind harmonize together in the breath.
By becoming aware of breathing,
You connect to your body's intelligence.
By slowing down your breath,
You become calm,
You can reduce stress,
And you can flush out your impulsive energy.
Settle into a cross-legged posture with your hands open,
Facing upward.
Maintain a straight back with its natural curves.
With the face slightly upturned,
Allow your focus to rest between the eyebrows,
Then gently close the eyes and mouth.
To live life one breath at a time is to live in the moment,
One moment at a time.
In this way,
We cannot become weighed down by the past or wound up by the future.
Entering the moment-to-moment direct experience of each breath allows us to focus on what really matters,
Right now,
Which we can all manage with a bit of practice.
Be aware of your breath's natural rhythm,
Observing the soft inhalation and exhalation,
Oxygenating and cleansing your body.
First,
Become aware of your breath's natural rhythm,
Observing the soft inhalation and exhalation,
Oxygenating and cleansing your body.
Next,
Observe how effortless the breathing process can be.
You're simply noticing now how it feels to be seated here in this present moment.
As you're resting here,
Take a moment to notice how your body is fully supported by the surface.
The surface supports your body to rest as much as it needs.
Draw the focus of your attention to the breath now.
Allow your awareness to ride the shifting tides of the natural and full breath,
Following the breath all the way from the entrance of the nostrils down to the belly and then filling out the lungs and chest.
Feel the entire body gently expand and become full of air.
Follow the breath all the way in and all the way out.
As you're resting here,
Observe how the breath moves the body without trying to change anything or make anything happen.
Just sensing the way the body is gently moved by the breath.
Feeling perhaps how when the in-breath arrives,
The belly gently expands.
And when the breath leaves,
The belly gently releases.
Inhale belly rising.
Exhale belly releasing.
Inhale belly rising.
Exhale belly releasing.
Inhale belly rising.
Exhale belly releasing.
Inhale belly rising.
Exhale belly releasing.
Thoughts appear.
Thoughts fade away.
Thoughts appear.
Thoughts fade away.
Thoughts appear.
Thoughts fade away.
Thoughts appear.
Thoughts fade away.
Thoughts appear.
Thoughts fade away.
Emotions come up to the surface.
Emotions gently dissolve into the vast ocean.
Emotions come up to the surface.
Emotions gently dissolve into the vast ocean.
Emotions come up to the surface.
Emotions gently dissolve into the vast ocean.
Emotions come up to the surface.
Emotions gently dissolve into the vast ocean.
Emotions come up to the surface.
Emotions gently dissolve into the vast ocean.
Resting at ease.
The body breathing itself and being with everything just as it is.
Nothing you need to know or do or have to make this moment any more perfect than it already is.
Everything is just as it is and yourself just as you are.
Everything is just as it is and yourself just as you are.
Everything is just as it is and yourself just as you are.
Everything is just as it is and yourself just as you are.
Everything is just as it is and yourself just as you are.
Before you return to your activities,
Know that you can pause like this at any time during your day and connect with this inner experience of calm,
Stillness,
And ease.
It's always here waiting for you no matter the circumstances of life.
To pause and be present.
Namaste.
