So today's meditation is a meditation on developing greater communication with your body and staying within this awareness of the body and its relation to the environment.
Starting with taking a good seat that feels comfortable but also allows you to stay alert.
Sensing into your state of mind and clarifying what would feel most supportive for you today.
If you are noticing that the mind is tired,
Perhaps choose to maintain seated.
And if you are noticing that the mind is busy,
You may wish to settle into more passive posture,
Perhaps lying down,
Leaning against a wall.
Anyways,
As we settle into becoming still,
Allow your gaze to soften and close your eyes completely this time,
Softening the inner corners of your eyes,
Relaxing the tongue in your mouth,
And continue scanning the body to allow it to soften into this experience of stillness,
Quietness and ease.
Include the feet,
Legs,
Sit bone,
Belly,
Chest and torso,
And your spine.
Noticing the experience of your arms,
Your mouth,
Cheekbones,
Nostrils and eyes,
Brows and forehead,
And spend the next few moments resting in the sensations of the body.
As you become attuned to the experience of your body,
Begin to expand your attention to notice how the posture feels in relation to the room,
And relax into whatever feels most obvious to you.
This may be the presence of sound,
How sounds rise and fall in the background of the space.
You may notice the experience of sense and how the body responds to fluctuations in those sense.
Perhaps noticing the intimacy between the body and the ground beneath you,
Relaxing into the feeling of touch,
So that you notice how it feels to be in contact with the surface or the cushion,
The map,
The chair.
See if you can observe the interplay and change between sensing,
Listening,
Smelling.
Notice how the body responds in tune,
How it registers the presence of the soundscape,
The ground beneath,
And the input through the nose.
And for the next few moments,
Continue to rest in this field of awareness,
Noticing the body in the relation to the room.
It's easy to drift into the clouds and into the broader space.
And it's a win and a courageous win to stay with what is.
Meditating is not only reaching out into the vastness of the universe around us,
It can attune you to sharpen your senses,
Heighten your awareness and clarity.
So as you slowly begin to rise from this practice,
Connect deeper back into yourself by reconnecting with your breath,
And lovingly inhale on the count of six,
Softly breathe out through the mouth as we transition back into this space.
Maintain this connection to the state of mind as you begin to lift the gaze and open up your eyes.
Have a beautiful day in loving presence.
