In this reflection, we challenge the outdated philosophy of "grit and perseverance at all costs." In a world burdened by an unprecedented amount of information and competing priorities, your most radical act of success is to limit your scope. When we ignore our need for sleep, rest, and inner calm, we unknowingly betray ourselves.

There's nothing that matters more than your inner calm,

Sleeping,

Your rest,

The number of hours you slept,

Your inner peace,

Your intentions,

Your dreams coming true,

The health of your body,

The health of your mind.

There are so many competing priorities,

But stay grounded in those.

My feelings matter.

My inner peace matters.

The state of my body matters.

Whether I'm rested or exhausted matters.

There was this whole philosophy,

At least when I was growing up,

Which was not that long ago,

That grit,

Perseverance at all costs,

Get what you want,

And I don't believe that.

Your authenticity matters.

So I think we need to purposely limit the scope because the only people who'll be really successful in our time are those who don't pay attention to everything.

There is too much information.

There's even a burden of information and theories and things that take your attention,

And there's little attention.

So with this little attention you have,

You need to focus on the things that really matter to you and the health of your body because people are burning out at unprecedented levels.

People are on antidepressants,

Unprecedented levels.

And part of that is that you're not paying attention to yourself,

And if you're not paying attention to your life and yourself,

You betray yourself because you don't even know what's going on.

You betray yourself without even realizing you betray yourself because you're not even listening to yourself in the first place.

So decide the path you want to walk.

Decide the things that are important to you.

Walk that path.

Find inspiration in that path.
