We all grow older, and our bodies and lives change as a result. This is another reason to be kind to ourselves, and another place we can express our self-compassion! How can we show deep compassion to ourselves throughout this process? This short practice will help get you into that mindset, so you can welcome any changes that happen. We are always changing in many ways, so we can be kind to every new version of ourselves.

Welcome to this meditation on self-compassion over the fact that we are getting older.

Begin by closing your eyes,

And in your own rhythm,

Take a deep breath in,

However feels good.

And release the breath.

And now go to that feeling of aging or of getting older.

Go right to the feeling of it,

Bring it up.

And say in your mind,

This is a moment of suffering.

Suffering is a part of life.

Getting older is a part of life.

But every year that I'm older,

I can be kinder and kinder to myself.

Put a hand on your heart and say,

I am here for this body.

At any age,

I am here for this body.

And I am here for this heart.

I support myself unconditionally.

May I be kind to myself.

May I give myself the compassion that I need.

Through every year,

Through every second of my life,

May I give myself the warmth,

The unconditional support that I need.

Letting your own hand fill your heart with warmth.

And knowing that you will be on your own side always.

You have that safety.

And every year is just another year to be more self-compassionate,

More connected with yourself,

More honest with yourself,

And more fully yourself.

Feeling how lucky you are to be on this earth now.

Being grateful for existing.

Knowing that you are valuable to the universe,

Just as you are.

And release the hands back down.

Take a deep breath in.

Take a deep breath out through the mouth.

And as you come back to the space,

Do so with total self-approval.
