This is a practice for your own inner freedom. In this meditation you get to tell your parents that you will honor the life they gave you by living it authentically and fully. You'll set the intention of happiness for yourself. You'll remind yourself that you don't need to lead the life that your parents led or repeat their fate or share their values. You can just offer gratitude, acceptance, compassion and respect. I hope you enjoy this practice for your energy and self-compassion.

Closing your eyes gently.

Imagining your parents.

And say to them,

I know any of our conflicts are there for my growth.

I know any moment of tension or my annoyance is there for my growth.

You gave me life,

And that is an enormous good.

I take all the good between us and give it a special place in my heart.

I'll honor the life you gave me by living it authentically.

I'll trust myself,

And I'll live my life in a loving way,

As fully as I can,

Because I was born to be free.

I am always your child.

No matter what I do or where I go,

I am always your child.

We have this link for eternity.

No one can take that away.

And I can promise that I will find happiness for myself as part of my gratitude to you.

I am my own person.

I don't need to lead the life you led.

I don't need to repeat your fate.

I don't need to share your values.

But I always send you gratitude and compassion.

Sending compassion to you,

I send compassion to myself.

Sending compassion to myself,

I send compassion to you.

Tell them,

Parents,

You have the right to exist as you are.

I take you just as you are,

Your life as it is,

Without judging or expecting it to be different.

I see you with eyes of the heart,

And I thank you for being as you are.

Those are exactly the lessons I needed.

And put a hand on your heart,

And send the wish,

May I protect this heart.

May I view all beings with compassion,

With this heart.

May I act with kind intention,

With kindness from this heart.

And in its non-judgment,

May this heart be free.

May this heart honor all beings,

And listen to itself.

And now take a deep breath in.

Take a deep breath out through the mouth.

And coming back softly,

Coming back gently,

And sending compassion for your own heart.
