Welcome to Zen parables with Etta.

The essence of Zen is to take you from the world of noise into the ocean that contains the noise,

The awareness that contains the thoughts.

Detach yourself from the thoughts,

Disentangle,

Just be a witness.

Automatically you will notice that you have gone beyond the thought.

Even if the parable evokes certain thoughts in you,

Remind yourself these are not my thoughts.

They are strangers on the street.

Do not serve them tea.

Just be a witness,

Just be a witness to the parable.

The name of today's Zen parable is the mind that moves.

Two monks were arguing about a flag that was flapping in the wind.

The first monk said,

It is the wind that is really moving.

The second one said,

No,

No,

It is the flag that is moving.

They continued to argue.

The master who was passing by heard their argument and interrupted them.

Neither the flag is moving nor the wind is moving.

It is the mind that is moving.

It is the mind that is moving.

It is the mind that is moving.

It was different from what I expected, bu two things resonated with my mind. First, the idea that the thoughts are not mind, but strangers on the street. Second, the idea that neither the flag nor the wind is moving, only the mind. Thank you for these chewy tidbits!

The introduction to the parable is a helpful guide to lead us to the essence of the parable. I find listening several times is essential

I love this kind of short and wise reminders of truth.
