In this talk, Ektaji explains how the mind always craves something that is not permanent which eventually leads to suffering. This parable teaches us that the truth lies in the reality as it is! The Reality of Impermanence. The parable might evoke some thoughts, emotions. Know that these are just thoughts not "your" thoughts. Know that these are just emotions not "your" emotions. Detach yourself from thoughts and emotions. Visit her website for more information.

Welcome to Zen parables with Ekta.

Zen attempts to teach you big lessons in small phrases,

Including short surprises.

One of such lessons is that of craving for permanency leading to suffering.

The mind always wants something or someone to last forever.

But everything is temporary.

Everything ends.

The mind falls on its face,

But again it stands up looking for another permanency.

It keeps falling,

It keeps standing.

And this drama of the mind continues.

Zen attempts to teach a disciple that the truth lies in reality as it is and the reality as it is is impermanency.

Today's parable is impermanency.

Everything changes.

A student went to a Zen master and told him,

I have been listening to your lectures for years and I just don't understand why I am not getting it.

Can you just put it in one phrase?

Put it in a nutshell.

How to get to the highest truth?

Can you just put it in one phrase?

So the master said,

Everything changes.

Everything changes.

Everything changes.

A great reminder of impermanence and change. I still grasp for more than I need and try to hold on to things that will change. Then I struggle with acceptance! What a cycle! Thank you πŸ™ 😊❀️ Karl
