Is there a breath that is not a breath?
An exhale that is not like the inhale.
Begin by sitting,
Easing into your place,
Uncrossing hands,
Getting feet squarely on the floor.
Taking note of yourself as you enter this meditation.
Is your breath fast and labored?
Calm and deep.
Is your body stiff or relaxed?
More precisely,
Where is it stiff?
Where is it relaxed?
Settling in.
Coming into this time and space to meditate and reflect and be.
Listen not rumination,
Presence and not fantasy.
Keep coming back.
A present reflection.
Breathing in and out.
Slowing down.
Settling in.
Breathing in and out.
In every life,
There are things that matter,
Things that are true and solid and real.
Then there are ephemera,
The passing,
The trivial,
The things that don't matter.
That distinction is different for each person.
In our time today,
We're going to breathe in the things that are authentic,
Real and true and breathe out the things that are just breath,
The things without substance.
The parts,
Worries and fantasies that don't really matter.
Breathe in all the way down.
Breathe out without any specific agenda.
Letting go.
Settling in as you inhale and letting go.
You might think of the difference between the things that really matter and the things that are a passing trivia as akin to the difference between the things that are on someone's eulogy and the things that are just on a resume.
Paper thin.
Breathe in love,
Passion,
Compassion,
Honesty.
Breathe out vanity,
Futility,
Anxiety,
Fantasy.
Breathing in and settling down.
Breathing out and letting go.
Letting go.
Settling on the inhale and letting go on the exhale.
Breathing in deeply what feeds your soul.
Settling gently the rest.
Inhale and settle down.
Inhale and let go.
Inhale deeply.
Inhale gently,
Letting go.
Breathing in and settling down.
Inhaling more of what's real and true and authentic.
Letting go of the external fragments.
Letting go.
Settling in,
Letting go.
Slowly to breathe until you hear the closing bell.
Blessings.
