Welcome to The Weekly Dream,
A repository of guided meditative journeys that aim to uplift,
Inspire,
And relax you.
Our themes revolve around astrology,
Mythology,
The seasons,
And more.
I'm your host,
Brittany Bryan,
And I invite you to sit back,
Get comfortable,
Grab a blanket,
Some tea,
Or a cat or two.
Dream and Drive,
Let's begin.
Welcome back to The Weekly Dream.
For our last episode,
My husband and I recorded a really short meditation from Cordoba,
Argentina.
I had intended on recording something ahead of our trip,
Which did not end up happening,
So you can hear a couple of cute little parakeets in the background.
We're home again in Savannah,
So today we'll enjoy a longer meditation,
But we're still going to forego a lengthy historical introduction,
And instead,
Today's dream is simply going to focus on the theme of cleansing.
So I have,
During these first few episodes,
Placed a lot of focus on the healing and growth that can be ushered in by the season of spring and some of the recent astrology we've all been experiencing,
But I want to take a moment today to really just focus on a feeling of freshness.
Because I don't know what's going on in your life,
Maybe you have been through a period of growth and adjustment,
And maybe it was messy or painful,
Or maybe it was purely or mostly joyful,
Which is great,
And if that's the case,
You can frame today's dream in terms of washing away anything left of the parts of yourself or of your life that are no longer serving you during or after this period of growth.
But maybe that isn't the case,
And maybe in the midst of all this talk about growth and fertility and abundance,
You've continued to feel stuck or stagnant.
Or maybe just nothing much is happening at all.
In the case of feelings of stagnation or even oppression,
Hopefully this meditation will help you to clear the space that you need to clear in order to move forward and manifest something wonderful,
Something that's been moving towards you that maybe you weren't aware of or maybe you didn't feel you deserved or just didn't know how to get to it.
In the case that your life is wonderful at the moment and or you're just content and these symbols of regeneration aren't particularly resonating for you,
Then think about this dream as impacting you on a more incremental level.
Our bodies cleanse themselves all the time.
Even without a juice fast,
Our liver and other organs work to detox us on a daily basis.
Most of us take showers or baths regularly.
Maybe you practice yoga or breath work,
Which are cleansing activities.
And even without intentional breath work,
Whenever we inhale,
We welcome new oxygen,
New life into our bodies.
So we all cleanse ourselves regularly regardless of whether or not we're doing so purposefully.
And maybe this can just be a moment where you do play with being more intentional about it if you want.
Why not?
So we're going to get started by getting into a more comfortable position as usual.
So stretch out your legs,
Maybe lie back and close your eyes and take a deep breath in for 1,
2,
3,
4 and hold 2,
3,
4 and release 2,
3,
4.
And let's do that one more time.
Take a deep breath in for 1,
2,
3,
4,
Hold 2,
3,
4 and release 2,
3,
4.
In this stillness,
I invite you to imagine yourself deep in a mountain forest.
It is a gray afternoon.
There are a few birds twittering in the trees,
But they are mostly quiet as the air around you grows heavy with moisture.
You can smell the rain coming,
And you can feel it coming just by the way the air is pressing in gently around you in a sort of soft embrace.
As you walk,
You reach your hand out and run your fingers along bright green patches of soft moss that clings to enormous stone boulders.
You touch the rocks themselves and feel their damp,
Solid coolness.
You wind your way along the mountain trail,
Saying hello to the rare squirrel and chipmunk and touching the ragged bark of the black walnut trees.
You're drawn to the delicate sound of water and follow its call until you come to a pool being fed by a small waterfall.
And even though the sky grows darker by the minute,
And even though the birds grow quieter still,
You slip off your shoes and whatever else feels good to you,
And you wade into this mountain pond.
The water is cool and refreshing,
But not cold,
Not like you thought it would be.
So you swim toward the little waterfall and let it cascade over you,
Feeling a gentle massage on your scalp,
Tilting your head so the water presses against your neck and shoulders.
You take a deep breath as you feel tension roll away,
Literally swept from your body by the water and pushed somewhere far out of sight downstream.
During this reverie,
The sky opens up.
The early summer rainstorm that has been building breaks loose,
And as you move away from the waterfall,
You continue to feel the pleasant pressure of water drops sliding down your already wet hair and your face.
You're completely surrounded by,
Submerged in,
Water,
And you close your eyes to focus on this sensation.
You bring awareness to the raindrops touching your forehead,
Your nose,
Your cheeks,
And your chin.
You feel your collarbones meeting the slightly colder mountain pond.
You feel your shoulders,
Chest,
And abdomen gently floating.
You feel your hips and your thighs as they make circles underwater.
You feel your feet against the slippery rocks,
The solid earth.
And then you sweep your awareness back up your body,
And you notice the coolness against your ankles,
Your shins,
And your knees.
You move your arms,
Elbows,
And wrists in slow circles.
You cup your hands,
Holding some of the river water and splashing it against your already dripping face,
Touching it to your lips,
Cheeks,
Your ears,
And pouring it over the crown of your head.
As you do this,
You imagine not just tension rolling off of you,
But also any heavy thoughts or emotions you've been carrying with you recently.
You know what they are.
You don't let yourself become bogged down by concentrating on them.
You simply acknowledge them for a moment,
Naming them individually if you prefer,
Before surrendering them to the water.
Thoroughly cleansed,
You make your way back to the bank,
Pick up your clothing,
And meander your way along the trail,
Letting the smell of the pine and the damp earth wash over you.
When you come to a small opening in the mountainside,
You slip inside.
It's safe and dry and warm.
And magically,
There's a small campfire burning,
Although there's no one in sight.
You lean against the cave wall and watch the rain continue to fall outside,
Bringing new life to the forest and creating a rhythmic drumming against the rocks that slowly lulls you to sleep.
A few moments or hours or days later,
You awake not in a rain-soaked forest,
But safe at home,
Where you begin to bring movement to your fingers and your toes,
Going very slowly.
As you open your eyes,
Maybe give your whole body a big stretch,
And then take a deep breath in for 1,
2,
3,
4.
And hold 2,
3,
4.
And exhale 2,
3,
4.
Thank you so much for joining me in this dream.
Until next time.
