Guided Meditation for Self-Love and Confidence.

This meditation will help you increase your feelings of self-love so you can experience greater confidence and success.

Let's begin by getting into a comfortable position,

Either sitting or lying down.

Close your eyes and breathe deeply.

With each in-breath,

Fill up the lower belly,

Then the chest,

And then the head.

With each out-breath,

Just relax and let it go naturally.

Let's breathe like this for one minute.

Now I'd like you to imagine that you are on your way to an appointment with an artist who paints portraits.

You've heard that this artist has a very unusual style.

He doesn't paint people as they currently are,

But as they want to be in the future.

As you enter the artist's studio,

He shows you examples of his work.

The portraits are truly amazing.

Each one is unique.

There are people who look absolutely joyful,

Others who are as peaceful as enlightened beings,

And still others who are tenderly loving.

You wonder who all these beautiful people are.

Then you remember that the portraits are showing what the people are trying to become.

And then you wonder if that's really fair.

You question the artist about why he paints people this way.

He replies,

Well,

Most people's self-image comes from the past,

But why should the past determine what we think of ourselves?

The past is over,

But the future is in the process of unfolding.

The future is like a magnet drawing us towards it.

It's the future,

Not the past,

That determines who we become.

He gives you a moment to absorb this new idea,

And then he inquires,

How would you like to see yourself in the future?

You think about the different character traits that you would like to embody.

There are so many possibilities that it's hard to choose just one.

Among other things,

You know that you would like to have more self-love and confidence.

You figure that if you love yourself and have confidence,

You can succeed at anything you put your mind to.

You tell the artist your idea,

And he says,

Excellent plan!

Now tell me exactly what this loving and confident you looks like.

Start by describing the expression on your face,

And take one minute to tell me how you would like your face to look in the portrait.

You Ah,

I can see it already,

Exclaims the artist with delight.

He begins to draw a rough sketch.

Now tell me what clothes you would like to be wearing in the portrait.

Spend one minute describing them in as much detail as possible.

You Now let's work on the background.

Are there any objects or scenes that you would like to include?

Maybe something that represents your favorite hobby or your career,

Including your future accomplishments.

Take three minutes to describe these things.

You you you you you you When you are finished,

The artist says,

Now I would like you to take about four minutes to visualize the final portrait,

Complete with all the details,

And describe it to me.

You you you you you you you The interview ends,

And you make arrangements to come back and pick up the portrait when it's finished.

As you are leaving,

The artist gives you some advice.

After you pick up your portrait,

Make sure you hang it in a place where you can see it every day.

You'll be amazed at the results.

He smiles and sees you to the door.

On your way home,

You notice that you're already feeling more confident.

Now it's time to come back from the meditation.

Breathe deeply and feel your body.

When you are ready,

Slowly open your eyes.

Stretch,

And come back to the present moment.

I love how in your meditation stories we often get to meet interesting people and friends. I like the concept of future portrait in this meditation. It would be great to make one in real life. Thank you for another adventure!
