The Moon was literally humanity's clock for thousands of years. This poem invites you to reflect on how you feel about your relationship to time in the modern world. It can be used as a springboard for journalling or creating your own poem. There might be lines in the poem that stand out to you which you'd like to use for a writing prompt. For example the last line - 'nothing about this discerning wisdom or our need for it has changed' might lead you to contemplate how you feel about the wisdom of how you relate to time. Do you have enough time? Are you always chasing time? Has time speeded up as you've got older? Do you make time for the things you love the most? Do you bring the phases of the moon into your life alongside the twenty four hour clock? Would it make a difference to you and to the Earth if you lived more in tune with the phases of the moon and the seasonal rhythms?
