Hello friends,
Welcome.
I am so glad you're here joining with me today for our peace meditation circle with Singing Bowls.
Today,
Other instruments as well.
And our theme today is loving kindness because that's our theme for the entire month.
Metta,
Which is a Pali word for loving kindness.
So Metta in May.
So I'm glad you could join me today.
So what I'll be doing today is I'll be guiding you into a loving kindness meditation with sound healing.
And I have some Tibetan bowls here today with me.
I have two crystal handled bowls,
Which are called practitioner bowls.
I just have the two today with me.
I have a monochord,
Which is has a very lovely sound to it.
Just wait till you listen to that.
Of course,
I have the gong and I chime there,
Chime here,
And protecting us all is Kuan Yin.
So in honor of Mother's Day,
But also nurturing ourselves,
Protecting ourselves,
Doing that self care and nurturance for ourself as well.
So with that,
Why don't we go ahead and get started.
Just a moment.
Just so you know,
There are creative ways that you can work with the loving kindness phrases.
And today,
At one point,
I will be chanting and singing them.
You can do the same if you like.
Or you can just say them to yourself,
You can just receive them in your mind,
Whatever way you like.
So this will go for about 20 minutes or so.
And then maybe a little more,
We'll see how time goes.
And then for the close or the balance of our total 30 minutes today,
We'll have a silent meditation so you can absorb the sound so you can absorb the phrases in your mind.
And you can sit quietly with that.
So let's go ahead and begin.
And I will start and end the meditation with the tinctures.
So just take a few moments to unwind,
Whether you're sitting or lying down today.
And as you allow your eyes to gently close,
Or lowering your gaze,
Tuning into the body for any minor adjustments that need to be made.
And it can be helpful to remember our intention for loving kindness,
Which is having ease and awareness.
So we'll start with some concentration practice,
Just to help our minds to settle and arrive in this present moment.
So here you can take a few deeper breaths,
Inhaling deeply and exhaling slowly.
Inhaling deeply and exhaling slowly.
Inhaling deeply and exhaling slowly.
As your breath returns to its natural rhythm,
Allow your attention to be drawn to one of three areas.
Maybe it's the rising and the falling of the belly,
Or the expansion and contraction of the chest.
Or maybe it's right there at the nostrils with the air,
As you feel it tickle in and out.
And you can use this one spot to just use as your anchor for our meditation practice today.
So try to stay with the breath all the way through,
From the beginning of the inhale,
All the way through the end of the exhale.
And you can begin the practice of loving kindness by bringing to mind yourself as you're sitting or lying here right now.
And try to connect with your own deepest intentions,
For happiness,
Ease,
And safety.
You don't have to figure out what would make you feel those things,
But just connect with that natural desire.
And you cultivate this intention to open your heart to your well-being by offering yourself some loving kindness phrases.
And that's what we'll be doing today.
So the phrases are,
May I be happy,
May I be well,
May I be safe,
May I be peaceful and at ease.
I'm going to chant those for you.
May I be happy,
May I be well,
May I be safe,
May I be peaceful,
May I be at ease.
May I be happy,
May I be well,
May I be safe,
May I be peaceful,
May I be at ease.
May I be happy,
May I be well,
May I be safe,
May I be peaceful,
May I be at ease.
And you can now bring to mind a good friend,
A loved one,
A teacher,
Even a pet.
And you can connect with your natural desire to see this person happy and at ease.
To feel safe,
Just like you.
To be healthy.
May you be happy,
May you be well,
May you be safe,
May you be peaceful,
May you be at ease.
May you be happy,
May you be,
May you be safe,
May you be peaceful,
May you be at ease.
And you can move into wishing anyone you like those phrases.
And now let us take this into the quiet.
May all beings be happy,
May all beings be well,
May all beings be safe,
May all beings be peaceful and at ease.
Thank you my friends for joining with me today for our peace meditation circle and I appreciate you being here and I hope you have a day filled with loving kindness.
