Being "hard on yourself" is a state of mind that begins with the thought "I'm not good enough," or "I'm terrible at this." When we hear these thoughts, we end up with feelings of bitterness, frustration, and anger toward ourselves. To stop doing this, we have to be aware that we are actually doing this and learn a new way by inviting awareness and paying attention. All of this is done with practice.
