Hello,
Welcome.
Today we're going to focus on the energy centers of the body from a yogic perspective.
The chakra system,
Which is foundational to many yoga practices,
Offers a beautiful roadmap for balancing our energy and creating an enduring strength.
So this is going to be a visualization.
Find somewhere quiet and sit in an easy pose where you can find a tall spine.
Gently close your eyes and begin to breathe a little bit slower,
A little bit deeper,
Just to ground down,
In and out through the nose.
Wherever you're sitting,
Feel the contact your body is making with the ground or the surface beneath you.
Feel the full weight of gravity holding you down as you sit tall.
Focusing on this grounding energy at the base of the spine,
Imagine your breath can reach all the way down.
Imagine your spine rooting into the earth,
Working with gravity to secure you,
To offer you steadiness.
Breathe into this lower spine.
Connect with a sense of security.
Connect with your body.
Now pull your focus up to your pelvic area and place a palm at the front lower belly,
Another hand at your lower back.
And begin to breathe into this area,
Expanding your breath,
Imagining a golden light filling the space.
Continue for just three breaths.
Feel a swirl of energy here.
Inhaling fully,
Exhaling completely.
And then release the hands and bring your focus to the navel point,
Right at your center,
Your core.
Each inhale,
Expand the navel out and each exhale,
Pull in,
Pulling the navel all the way to the spine,
Releasing every last ounce of breath.
Our third chakra is our core,
Said to be our source of confidence,
Strength.
So really feel that with each exhale,
Pull in,
Tighten,
Sit up taller,
Feel your strength.
Now bring your left palm to your heart and your right palm over your left.
And as you inhale,
Pull your shoulder blades back and push your heart into your hands.
Exhale completely,
Feel an opening in the chest and expansion and continue to breathe here,
Just a few breaths.
Release your hands and bring your attention to your throat.
Visualize a blue light here and either listen in or join me for a few recitations of an extended hum.
Inhale through the nose and release hum.
Inhale,
Hum.
Hum.
For this last time,
Imagine you can see the sound in your throat.
Hum.
Now bring your index finger to the place between your eyebrows,
Right at the bridge of your nose.
Roll your eyes up to this brow point with your eyes closed and focus on this area,
The third eye area.
Whatever comes to mind as you home in on this point of energy,
Just listen.
You may see a light,
You may see nothing but darkness.
You may get a thought,
Whatever it is,
Just accept it and be open and listen.
Breathe and focus.
Eyes still closed now,
Roll your eyes up toward the top of your head.
This may be just a slight strain for your eyes and imagine that you can see through the top of your head.
Imagine a bright white light here emanating from the top of the head and imagine you can see to the sky,
The universe.
Breathe and expand here.
Visualize whatever you can visualize.
Go as high as you can go.
Now release the gaze and take a breath so deep that it comes all the way down to this root energy,
This root chakra to the lower spine and imagine it lights up there.
There's a ball of bright white light at the base of your spine and release the breath and with each new deep inhale,
Allow this light to work its way up the spine and all the way through to the crown of your head.
Breathe in and allow it to brighten.
Contain this energy,
Circulate this energy,
Breathe this energy.
Now allow your breath to return to normal.
Come back to the present.
Maybe wiggle your toes and your fingers and blink your eyes open and with the hands at the heart,
Feel this bright energy all around you,
Surrounding you,
Cocooning you,
Emanating from you.
With your hands in prayer,
Seal the practice.
