My name is Darius and here is a simple practice to test your capacity for receiving kindness.
Now why would we want to increase our capacity for receiving kindness?
Why the heck would we not want that?
There is so much hard stuff in the world there is so many heavy topics there are so many stressful things in the world.
There are so many moments in all of our lives where we do something and we get it wrong and we make a mistake and then we.
Torture ourselves with,
Oh my gosh,
How could you do that thing?
So in those moments when someone is saying something nice to you,
Why would you not blast your heart open and say,
Thank you,
I am receiving your kindness.
You know it's such an interesting thing I'm gonna be honest my default used to be until I implemented this incredibly simple practice it was either to deflect and change the topic immediately or to.
Say something nice back to them to change the topic back to them.
It was almost as if I didn't receive.
I wasn't open to hearing what they were saying and actually absorbing it.
And so here's the practice the next time someone says something nice to you.
Do two things,
Two things that will take three seconds,
Ready?
Take a breath.
Imagine you are absorbing the kindness through your inhale.
I like to put my hand on my heart.
You don't need to do that.
And then I just say the word receiving because sometimes I don't know what to say.
I'm like,
Wow,
That's such a nice thing you just said.
And instead of saying just speaking without thinking,
Which often will lead to me saying nice things back to them and not really listening to what they've been saying.
I take a breath and I just say.

Thank you.
Receiving.
Receiving,
Receiving.
And I just leave a little space for me to actually listen and absorb the kindness.
Like I said,
There's a lot of heavy stuff in the world.
And if someone is blessing your day with something nice and sweet and kind and sincere,
Absolutely take it in,
Receive it.
Okay,
So let's practice together.
Someone says something nice to you,
Before you jump in and say something nice to them,
Take a breath.
Receiving.
Receiving.
You can adapt this.
You can change this.
You can make it your own version.
I just love to say receiving.
Receiving.
Receiving.
You know,
It's.
Uh.

It's an activation for myself,
It's a remembering for myself to listen,
To receive.
To check in and see.
How much can I open my heart to this?
Am I at like 20%?
I've received 20%,
I can't take any more.
Or am I willing to open my heart 60,
70,
80,
90,
100% and just take in the nutrients to my soul?
