The Wheel of the Year turns once more to the Sabbath of Mabon.
Mabon is many things.
It is the second harvest,
The witch's thanksgiving,
And the autumnal equinox,
The second time of the year,
When day and night are of equal length.
Going forward,
Days will become even shorter.
We are thankful for our harvests as we prepare for the earth to become dormant again.
Mabon is a time to experience and enjoy balance as the temperatures begin to grow colder and certain crops dwindle.
It is during this time when our ancestors would take note of what they had harvested to ensure that their families would have adequate supplies for the coming winter.
Thus the idea of it being a thanksgiving celebration.
Seek balance wherever you can.
By its very nature,
The Sabbath of Mabon teaches us the importance of this.
Equal time of dark and light.
With this balance,
We find insight.
In spring,
The harvest seeds we did sow.
We gather our crops before the cold winds blow.
As we feast tonight on what we reap,
The earth begins to fall asleep.
But not for long,
Because in spring,
Another abundance nature will bring.
Mabon blessings to all.
