Are you ready to meditate with Kori?
Lay down your sleepy head on your pillow.
Get all snuggly and comfortable.
It's time to relax your body and let go of your busy day.
It's a Saturday afternoon.
You've been busy all morning running around playing.
Maybe you've been shopping.
Maybe you've done some kind of club like football or basketball.
You're hungry.
I'm hungry.
You think.
I wonder what mum got when she went shopping.
Go over to the cupboard in the kitchen that has all the yummy snacks in it.
There's fruit roll ups.
There's granola bars,
Gummies.
There's dried fruit,
Chips,
You name it.
Everything in there that you can have when you need a snack.
You notice that there's something different in the snack box.
You're feeling like a cookie.
Some kind of cookie.
Maybe a sugar cookie or a chocolate chip cookie or maybe.
.
.
Maybe like an animal cracker.
Yeah,
That would be good.
You pick up a packet that you've not seen.
Mum must have got something new,
You think to yourself.
It's got a picture of a cute sloth on the front and it says,
Sloth snacks.
This makes you smile.
Sloth snacks?
That's kind of cool.
I wonder what they are.
You open up the packet and look inside.
Yes!
You say out loud.
They look like animal crackers,
But they're shaped like sloths.
Mum knows me so well,
You think to yourself.
You smell into the bag and see what they smell like.
This is something that you do.
It's just so you get an idea of what flavour they might be.
You smell vanilla.
Cinnamon.
Definitely like an animal cracker kind of smell.
They also smell like those teddies,
The teddy bear crackers that you've had before.
Golden graham crackers.
That's it.
You can smell it.
They smell like that.
But they're so cute.
Little sloths.
They're like sloths,
You think to yourself.
At this point you haven't eaten any.
You kind of grab the top of the bag and start to walk away from the snack cupboard.
You decide to go on the back garden and sit in the sunshine and eat them outside.
You like to do that sometimes because you can hear different birds on the back garden,
Dogs barking down the street.
Sometimes there's a meow from a cat.
Sometimes you can hear the neighbours talking or shouting or laughing.
It feels like you're listening to the radio even though there isn't a radio.
It's the back garden channel.
The back garden radio.
Genius you think.
You go sit down on the grass and get comfy.
The grass is definitely dry today.
It's not rained for a while.
It's spongy underneath your bum.
It's soft and not prickly.
It's the soft,
Nice grass that feels all spongy like a mattress underneath your body.
You start to eat your sloth snacks one by one.
You lay back on the grass and stare up at the sky,
Munching away happily.
These sloth snacks are really yummy you think to yourself.
You reach up and scratch your nose.
You have an itch on your nose.
Just a little itch and it makes you want to scratch.
Then you lift your left hand up to scratch your nose.
Your left hand is not a hand.
It looks very strange.
It's hairy and you have claws.
Long,
Curly claws.
You drop the packet of sloth snacks and lift your other hand up to your face to see what that one looks like.
It's the same.
It's hairy,
Like a grey-brown hair.
Then you have claws.
The first thing you do is shout,
Mom!
But nothing comes out of your mouth.
Only a,
A sloth yawn.
You scratch your tummy and look down and your tummy's really furry and hairy.
It's quite coarse,
The hair.
You notice it makes a sound when you scratch.
Like it's rough.
It feels a bit hard like the bristles of a brush that you would brush the floor with.
Feels nice to scratch with those long claws.
Then all the panic seems to go away and you feel very calm.
You yawn again.
I'm so tired.
You think to yourself.
And then you get a little bit freaked out.
Your inner voice sounds like a sloth.
No,
Like a sloth would sound that you think it would sound if a sloth talked.
What on earth is going on?
You think to yourself.
What a lovely day.
Oh,
I could just take a nice nap.
The sun is so nice and warm on my fur.
Oh this is just delicious.
You close your eyes and roll over onto your side.
I could just do with a tree.
Feel a little bit out in the open here on the grass.
Hmm,
That looks like a nice tree.
You think to yourself.
You get up and start to move very slowly.
Sloth slow.
Wow,
I'm slow.
You say out loud.
But you keep going.
You keep moving forward.
Foot by foot,
Step by step.
Until you eventually get to the tree that you were looking at earlier.
You climb up the tree.
Wow,
I'm good at this.
You say to yourself.
That's why I have these claws.
I laugh funny.
You think.
And then you go and hug your claws around the perfect looking branch and hang.
Oh,
That feels just right.
Much better.
You think to yourself.
What a lovely day.
Oh,
I could just eat that leaf.
Oh,
That's a nice butterfly.
I could just eat that butterfly.
Oh,
This is lovely.
Oh,
It's very nice and peaceful here in this garden.
I like the sound of the birds.
I especially like the sound of the tweet tweet tweet parts.
Some of the birds go,
Ooh,
Ooh.
I like that too.
Ooh,
I'm a poet.
You think to yourself that you've got the funniest laugh,
But you can't help yourself.
You decide that you like the feeling of being a sloth.
You feel very happy inside.
So warm like porridge.
This thought makes you think of the three bears story with Goldilocks.
You decide that you're the part that's just right.
Not too hot.
And not too cold.
Oh,
I'm so very comfortable.
You close your eyes once again.
It really is a nice day.
It's sunny outside.
You can hear the neighborhood kids playing out on the street.
For a moment you think,
I'd like to go play outside.
But then you remember.
You're quite happy where you are.
Hanging from the tree being a sloth.
I wonder if I'm smart.
I wonder if I can do math.
How am I supposed to go back to school if I'm a sloth?
I wonder if I can still play soccer.
That would be funny.
I wonder if I'm going to stay like this.
I don't really know.
For the moment though,
It feels very nice to be a sloth.
Very nice indeed.
I'm so comfortable.
I could just take a little nap.
Sloth nap.
That would be nice.
Maybe if mum or dad eat the snoth snacks,
They'll become a sloth.
And then we'll all be hanging out here on the backyard in this tree.
That would be nice.
Oh golly,
I am tired.
It's tiring being a sloth.
I'd like to take a really nice nap.
You start to let yourself relax even more.
At first you're a little bit frightened that if you relax too much,
You might fall out of the tree.
But then you realize that you're a sloth and you're an expert at this.
And that's what your big claws are for.
You can't understand how comfortable it is to just hang from a tree upside down.
You keep thinking to yourself that as soon as you fall asleep you're going to fall out.
But you don't.
You stay hooked on.
Stared and fast.
So then you let yourself relax even more.
You notice that it's so easy to relax being a sloth.
It feels like second nature.
In fact all you want to do is slow things down.
Be still.
Be so very,
Very quiet.
Just watching the day go by with the occasional nap and the occasional snack.
You notice that that's all you need.
It's a very simple life being a sloth.
Doesn't seem that complicated at all.
You stir a little bit and say out loud,
I hope my mom gets these sloth snacks again.
And then you close your eyes back down and surrender fully to sleep.
You sleep and sleep and sleep.
So so tired.
So very very relaxed.
Sloth relaxed is very different than human relaxed.
Sloth relaxed takes it to a whole new level.
So content and comfortable.
So warm and gooey.
Inside just like porridge.
Not too warm and not too cold.
It's just right.
The end.
