Are you ready to meditate with Kari?
Lie down in your bed.
Make sure that you're still and quiet.
Quiet listen to the story.
And let go of your busy day.
Jake was at the breakfast table.
He'd not quite woken up.
He'd been dreaming about all sorts of crazy things all night and he felt just as tired this morning as he did last night when he went to bed.
He was miles away eating his green machine cereal.
He was just gazing into the bowl.
Occasionally lifting up the spoon.
Putting it to his mouth.
Having a bite.
Chewing.
Just gazing into the bowl.
What he liked about his green machine cereal was that it turned the milk very green.
He was thinking to himself,
I wonder what they put in this cereal to make it go so green.
I wonder if it's healthy.
Hmm,
He thought.
And then he remembered that his box of cereal normally had a toy in it.
A gift,
A surprise of sorts.
He ran over to the counter,
Grabbed the box and brought it back to where he was eating his cereal.
He dug his left hand into the box and started rummaging around in the cereal trying to find the gift.
It was right down at the bottom.
He felt what felt like a crunchy plastic bag or something.
It wasn't very big,
He thought.
He pulled the bag out of the box and looked at it there in his hand.
It was a clear plastic bag about the size of his palm and it had a green plastic frog inside.
Oh,
A frog,
He thought to himself.
I like frogs.
He opened up the packet and realized it had a hole in it and he could put the frog on top of his pencil.
He thought that would look really cool when he got to school.
He put the frog down next to him on the breakfast table and carried on eating his cereal.
He went back into his days.
He was daydreaming away thinking about frogs,
How he liked frogs.
He wondered what it would be like to be a frog.
And then all of a sudden,
The kitchen disappeared.
The table disappeared.
The bowl of cereal there in front of him completely disappeared.
Jake looked down at his body and realized it was green.
He went to shout his mom and all that came out was,
Ribbit,
Ribbit,
I'm a frog,
Thought Jake.
As Jake looked around,
He realized he was outside next to a really big pond.
It was a nice sunny day.
The sun was shining down on the water and the reflection on the water was really calm so he could see all the clouds as if the clouds were floating on top of the pond.
There were dragonflies,
Butterflies,
Birds chirping away and singing in the background.
A dragonfly flew really close to his face and just on a natural reflex,
He stuck out his long frog tongue.
Got it,
He thought,
Chomped away.
This is really good.
He hopped his way over closer to the pond.
That's where all the dragonflies were flying.
He jumped onto a big giant lily pad.
This is really comfortable.
The lily pad swished and swayed in the water until it found its balance again.
He was comfortable,
Relaxed,
He felt very,
Very safe.
The lily pad started to float to move away from the side of the pond as if it was taking him somewhere on a very special journey.
Occasionally a dragonfly would fly really close and he'd got it,
Got it,
Got it over and over again until his full tummy could not fit any more dragonflies in it.
The sun was getting warmer.
He could feel it shining down on the back of his frog back.
The sensations felt different in his body.
I'm a frog,
He thought.
How cool is this?
You know what I could be?
I could be a frog prince.
That would be pretty awesome,
He thought to himself.
If only there was a frog princess.
He looked around the pond,
He checked out all the different lily pads.
There was no other frogs there,
Not right now anyway.
He decided to just bask in the sun and relax his full belly and just be comfortable.
He closed his froggy eyes and thought about how cool it was to be a prince.
Maybe I have a kingdom far,
Far away.
A castle with towers and guards in front of it that watch me all the time and keep me safe.
I have flags flying from the castle that have pictures of me on them.
Frog prince castle,
He thought.
That's what everyone would know it as.
I'd be known as a famous prince that could eat thirty dragonflies.
All in a row.
I'd be famous far and wide.
Villagers,
People,
Animals,
Everyone would come and visit me.
The frog prince that could eat thirty dragonflies.
He started to get sleepy.
He looked down at his feet and he had long toes with suckerpats on the end of them.
They were holding steadfast to the lily pad underneath them.
There was no way he was going to fall off.
Thought about taking a little nap.
How nice would that be?
The water was moving the lily pad very gently underneath him,
Swaying almost as if he was laying in a hammock in Hawaii or Bali or somewhere distant and far away.
Somewhere tropical.
The birds carried on singing their beautiful songs.
The breeze was blowing the trees and the leaves so the rustling in the leaves sounded like an orchestra.
All the different sounds coming together to play a song for the frog prince so he could fall to sleep.
His tummy gurgled and moved but then his attention started to drift off once again.
All the sounds blending into one peaceful relaxing day.
The swaying was moving him from side to side.
Sometimes the water would swoosh up onto the lily pad and cool down his feet keeping his temperature at a very comfortable,
Comfortable warmth.
He relaxed even deeper.
All of his muscles,
His tiny little muscles and his frog legs relaxed.
His eyes were so heavy now that he could barely open them.
Occasionally his long tongue would come out and just lick one of them clean and then he closed his eye again.
He thought about how cool it was to be able to lick your own eyeballs but then he drifted once again into an even deeper state of relaxation.
His body was getting heavier and heavier.
The sounds of the day,
The water moving,
The birds singing.
All started to drift away further and further as if he was going into another place.
A place even further away.
A place that felt like another world.
When he realized he was going into dreamland.
One of his favorite places to go.
He was dreaming he was wearing a prince's outfit.
He was on a battlefield dressed in armor.
He was no longer a frog.
Now he was a prince,
A real human prince.
He was doing so good at defending his castle.
Blow after blow.
All the bad guys were flying all over the place.
He was winning.
No one will take my castle away from me he thought.
I am the bravest prince in the world.
Jake slept deeper and deeper and deeper.
Until he fell into a void where even the dreams disappeared.
He was miles,
Miles,
Miles away.
Drifting off.
Who knows where.
