High Team.
Just a short explanation on presence.
What is meant by presence,
And why presence is such a powerful remedy.
The symptoms of anxiety,
Stress,
Really many forms of psychological distress,
Can be remedied by the practice of presence.
So you might have heard becoming present,
Finding the present moment,
Being present,
And wondered,
What does that mean exactly?
It's really simple.
It's purely focusing your attention into the here and now.
But crucially only the here and now.
So there's no thoughts of future,
There's no thoughts of the past,
We're not predicting anything or imagining the future and we're not remembering anything from the past.
Being present really is just.
.
.
Focusing.
The entirety of your attention into.
The present moment,
Just the here and now.
There are many methods for doing this.
You might focus on the sensations of breathing.
You might connect through the senses,
Things that you can hear,
See,
Touch,
Taste.
One that I really like is just become aware of the temperature.
In the room right now.
Because previously you might not really have been thinking about it,
It just kind of fell into the background of your awareness.
But you just become aware of the temperature.
And it just brings you into the here and now.
It just very powerfully centers.
Grounds you into the present moment.
This is really powerful for relieving the symptoms of anxiety and stress because if you think How much of our psychological turmoil is related and bound to time?
When we're worried about the future.
That leads to overthinking and anxiety.
When we're caught up in the past,
We're ruminating and even overthinking.
Constantly caught up in thoughts of what I should have said,
What I should have done,
Regret,
Guilt,
All of that sort of stuff.
So by focusing your conscious awareness entirely into the present moment,
We can find an enormous amount of relief from that simple practice alone.
I hope that's just a powerful first step into this.
There's many,
Many,
Many ways into presence.
I'm sure you'll enjoy exploring.
Thank you for watching.
