This meditation is a gentle reminder of the natural space of joy and energy that shines in the ever-present Now. A returning home to to safety and energy of your natural state of being. A re-awakening of the natural happiness that flourishes when you allow yourself to drop the past and the future and the painful stories that come with it.

Come home to yourself.

A natural happiness meditation.

Take any position that supports your intention to remain awake.

Breathing in through the nose and out through the mouth.

Close your eyes.

Allow yourself to relax.

Notice whatever state the body and mind is currently in,

But do not try to alter or change anything now.

Just a sense of accepting what is already here.

A natural relaxation will occur just through focusing on the sensations of breathing.

Even if you feel uncomfortable at this time,

This is okay.

There is no prerequisite for meditation.

Just breathe and allow everything to be as it is.

Happiness is not a new state to be achieved,

But instead a remembering of your natural open space of joy.

The happiness in you is always present.

However,

It can be covered and obscured by dense thoughts and feelings,

Like rain clouds obscuring the sunlight.

If you were not aware the sun exists above the clouds,

You might be fooled into thinking the sun has disappeared.

But the reality is only that the clouds temporarily cover that which is always present.

Breathe deeply in through the nose and out through the mouth,

And allow yourself to begin rising above the clouds for a while,

Simply returning upwards effortlessly.

The sky is infinitely open and able to contain all.

You are safe in knowing the clouds will pass,

And the sky will remain unaffected,

So all is well.

Recognize that you are not the clouds,

But instead the light that shines upon them.

Should there be sadness,

Fear,

Or tension in the body or mind,

Just observe these in the same way light shines on a cloud from above.

This is a healthy way to process emotion.

A sense of opening,

Expanding,

To allow all to simply flow through.

Notice any residual tension or darkness in the body and mind is temporary and soon dissolves.

Breathing in through the nose and out through the mouth.

No need to force the breath in or out,

Just a natural deepening of the breath.

In through the nose,

Out through the mouth.

Notice that the light of the present moment isn't concerned by time.

There are no years of conditioning leading up to now.

There is just the now that always has been and always will be.

By disengaging from memory for a while,

You can allow the blue sky of freedom in as though nothing has ever happened.

The joy and wonder of an ever-present childhood awakening.

Continuing to breathe deeply in through the nose and out through the mouth.

If you find your mind has wandered,

Just allow a gentle return to the breath.

Even the darkest events are simply the darkest clouds.

They cannot stay forever,

And although they can move slowly,

Notice that they are indeed shifting.

Breathe deeply and allow awareness to turn away from the content of the past,

Instead turning towards the bright energy of the now.

Safe in the immediate moment,

The reality of the present,

Without context or story.

Notice the energy of now,

Still here,

Always has been,

And always will be.

Allow yourself to feel safe in the present.

You will only ever experience the present.

You cannot experience the past.

The past can only exist as memory,

And memory arises in the present.

So,

Too,

There is no future to fear.

The future has never arrived.

By the time the thing that we call future arrives,

It will still be now.

A simple knowing that all can be healed and overcome,

And this limitless future is unfolding in the present.

The light of awareness remains unstained and unbroken.

Now,

Without the context of past or future,

Infinite possibility reawakens.

Notice the power of your awareness growing in the present.

As you turn the light of awareness up,

The clouds dissolve ever faster.

Breathing deeply,

And allowing the warmth of the light to fill your being,

From the top of your head to the tip of your toes,

A bright,

Open space simply flows through this area now.

A clear,

Open,

Bright,

Empty space.

Safe and well in this present moment,

Whatever it contains.

Breathe deeply,

And return home to yourself.

The pure and open light of life.

A space available to you at any time.

Choosing to reopen your eyes if you wish,

But do not be so quick to pick up the stories of past or future.

Just let everything be as it is in this moment.

Open to the infinite possibilities of now.

Remaining safe and perfectly at home within yourself.
