I give myself,
Sometimes admirable advice,
But I am incapable of taking it.
Mary Wortley Montagu Honesty.
How refreshing.
How refreshing when we can be honest,
Even humorously honest,
About ourselves.
Often we are so busy protecting ourselves that we don't dare risk letting others know that we are not perfect.
Usually we are the only ones fooled by our masquerade and facades.
We make ourselves believe the others are fooled too.
Welcome to Coached by Nikkie Dyer.
Close your eyes and bring your attention to your breath,
Take a deep breath in,
And stretch your arms up over your head,
Reaching way past your crown and into the emptiness above you.
Do you feel your belly expanding with each inhale,
And as you exhale,
Allow your arms to release down into your lap.
However you are breathing,
It's perfect.
When we can be honest with ourselves,
We usually know very clearly what we need,
Out of all of the people in your world.
You talk to yourself more than anyone,
So the real question becomes,
Can you listen?
Are you capable of following your own good advice?
Can you let yourself see where your weaknesses are,
And laugh about them?
Are you brave enough to see yourself,
And to be honest about what you see?
After all,
No one knows you as well as you do.
Take a deep breath in,
Breathing into the deepest parts of your belly,
What do you see?
What advice is there to give yourself?
Giving advice is difficult,
Especially if it's honesty.
We really don't want to hear,
Even when it comes from ourselves.
We each have a quiet voice inside of us,
One that does not use words.
Fear makes us believe that living honestly would be harder than living in the illusion.
We all know what we really want to do,
Who we really want to be,
So long as we are being honest.
Take a final deep breath in,
And exhale,
And when you are ready,
Open your eyes.
