What would it feel like to fall in love with you?
To see yourself and your own life in the same way you would want someone else to?
To see yourself clearly,
With adoration and acceptance for who you already are?
To see your journey not as a series of good and bad things that have happened to you,
But as one opportunity after another,
Consistently moving you into a better position for what's to come.
I invite you to close your eyes and simply relax into a peaceful place within,
An internal place that feels quiet and neutral.
Take in a nice easy breath as you find your body and your mind connecting,
Feeling how they work together as one.
And as you continue to breathe in a rhythm of slow inhales and exhales,
I want you to consider what would it feel like to fall in love with you?
How would it feel to fall in love with your own life?
There's a lot of cultural emphasis on finding love,
And because of this,
There's a lot of pressure to find the right partner who will somehow make you feel whole or complete.
Someone who will save you.
But anyone who has searched for this already likely knows that another person can never do all of these things for you.
Because ultimately,
You have to fall in love with yourself.
When you love yourself,
You're no longer waiting for someone else to deem you worthy of love.
Loving yourself means embracing both your strengths and your weaknesses.
It means you are gentle and kind with your heart when you take a misstep or if you fail.
It's making your inner voice speak in a sweet,
Tender tone you would use with a young child when you are speaking to yourself.
Falling in love with you means you stay positive and uplifting and supportive when using words of encouragement and praise throughout your day.
It means admiring the life you have created and seeing it as desirable.
It's reveling in who you are,
Who you have already become.
It's holding yourself as an equal to anyone else on this planet that you hold in high regard.
It's loving yourself so strongly that you can ask yourself what your needs are,
And then give yourself permission to meet them,
Without questioning if they're valid.
It's okay for seasons of your life to feel hard.
Challenges mean that you are no longer standing in stagnant water.
You are consciously choosing to step outside of your comfort zone,
Even if it means walking against the current for a while.
You could have chosen to stand still,
But you decided you wanted more.
You decided to move.
I hope you're proud of yourself for taking that first step,
And another,
And another.
Even when it's not easy,
And especially when the self-doubt starts to creep back in,
I hope you're proud of yourself for trying,
Even if you are unsure of the outcome.
I hope you make peace with the version of yourself that never feels good enough.
I hope you know that your time is coming,
Even if parts of you worry that it's too late,
Or wonder if you should have had it all figured out by now.
I hope you know it's completely normal to sometimes doubt yourself for no reason.
Just because it's taking time,
Doesn't mean it's not already happening.
To fall in love with your own life,
Who could be so bold?
Having the awareness that you truly love yourself,
Your own life,
It opens up space.
This awareness starts to change things for you.
Whatever you practice more,
You get more of.
You are not the same person you used to be,
And I think that's really beautiful.
Taking a final deep breath in,
And a slow exhale out.
And when you feel ready,
Open your eyes and return to the space around you.
