In this recording,

I'm going to talk about how the battle is won in the moments.

We often have this grand idea of how we're going to succeed at something or succeed at life and we see these successes as big victories.

We're getting that job,

Getting that partner,

Getting the house,

Whatever it is,

It's always a big thing we see in our mind.

But the big goals can never happen without the thousands of little moments that make up the path to that goal,

All those moments along the way where we choose to do the thing that's right for us,

Where we choose to step forward.

So I'm going to speak about that and we're going to do a guided meditation.

That's going to help practice,

Help imagine pushing forward,

Casting off doubt,

Moving forward on your path.

There won't be a hypnotic induction,

But there's some positive suggestion in there which will help install some of these concepts,

It'll help you imagine and rehearse stepping forward whenever doubt pops up,

Whenever a mood pops up,

You'll be able to push forward on your path towards those big goals.

So what do I mean by the battle is won in the moments?

It's about getting unstuck by shaking off frustration.

So if a situation or a thought equals a mood,

Then not giving up equals not giving into the mood and casting it off and giving yourself a mental clap after each time.

And what is a mental clap?

Well it could be anything.

It's something that feels positive at an emotional level and that's something to counteract the negative mood that comes in when you try and do these little tasks or that just come up in the day and they just feel like a setback and they get you a bit stuck.

Something to counteract that mood.

It might be saying yes you legend under your breath.

Something out there,

Something strong.

It might be imagining saying no to that teacher from school or someone that said you couldn't do it or held you back,

But give it an emotional value,

An emotional mental clap or pat on the back.

Does it feel embarrassing,

This idea of having to encourage yourself like a child after all these little steps?

Maybe,

But that's tough.

You can turn that judgment around too.

That is just the same mood coming up,

Just deflating you.

Turn that around into a hell yes.

Call yourself a wise,

Kind sensei,

Guiding yourself along the greatest path of all,

Living your best life.

You're a noble knight of the realm and you're giving your soul a high five on the way.

That's a noble activity.

Anyway the mind always has these grand ideas,

Always judging,

Oh don't do that or no that's embarrassing,

Blah blah blah.

It's always wanting you to stop,

To not do or to start again and to rewrite the plan,

Basically go back into planning.

Doesn't want you to take any risks or do anything.

Safer to stay in the mood,

To stay stuck,

To tell it no.

So in a moment we'll do a guided meditation and there'll be some hypnotic suggestions in there,

There'll be some positive suggestions to install that ability to be able to change the mood,

To push forward on your path,

To really bring it on in the imagination and make it happen.

So begin by making yourself comfortable.

So only listen if it's safe to do so and you're able to just take a few moments to do this.

So get comfortable and allow the eyes to close.

And the key before we begin is to really get that feeling of determination,

Of knowing,

Of casting off doubt and saying no,

I am on the right path and moving forward.

So just connect with that now.

Just bring up in your mind a situation where you've known what the right thing to do was,

Where you've pushed forward,

Where you've said no to doubt.

Or even just get that feeling,

If you can't think of a situation,

Just get the feeling that there has been a doubt or something or someone has questioned it and you've said no this is what I am doing.

And you've moved forward with that plan.

Or perhaps there's been a time where you've seen a child unsure what to do.

Or you can imagine a child not knowing what to do and you are there supporting them saying it's okay.

Let go of that frustration.

Let go of that fear.

I'll be there with you.

Let's walk forward now.

You got this.

Bring on that feeling now,

That determination,

That grit,

That standing proud.

Finding the right thing for you,

The thing that is in line with what you want and your beliefs.

Relax and let go of that.

Let go of any effort.

Let go of any thinking or trying.

And notice that curiosity that comes up,

Thinking about what's going to happen.

What will I say?

How will you feel?

Just keep that curiosity.

Allow it to maintain your focus in what I'm saying and choose to take all the words that I'm saying and make them feel as real as possible for these next few moments.

Make them feel as real as possible as if what I say is happening right now.

Take a deep breath in and pause holding the breath at the top and then exhale slowly through the mouth and let go of all the muscles in the face and the shoulders.

Relax a little deeper with each breath.

And again,

A deep breath in and pause at the top of the breath and then exhale and send a wave of relaxation down from the head,

Down the face,

The shoulders,

Down through the stomach,

Relaxing all the way to the toes.

Just seeing if you can let go of any effort in the muscles throughout the whole body.

And if you can let go of any effort in the mind for the next few moments.

Letting go with each breath,

Just sinking a little bit more deeper into relaxation.

Letting go of everything but following my voice and the feelings in the body.

All we're doing now is relaxing away effort so you're becoming focused and present on the suggestions that I'm making.

So when you've let the eyes relax completely,

When you've let the jaw and the cheeks and the face relax completely,

Let go of the shoulders a little bit more.

Let go of any holding in the stomach or the back and relax deeper.

And imagine now you are walking along a path on the side of a mountain,

One step after another.

You can hear the crunchy ground below your feet with each step.

Maybe you can feel a gentle breeze on your neck and maybe you have a smile on your face taking in all the beauty of nature around you.

And you feel a determination as you walk along this path.

You have a certain feeling of grit,

Knowing you're heading where you want to go and you're being drawn along this path.

It has a certain importance to you.

As you move along the path,

Taking in all the sights,

But keeping that determination with you,

You have a certain relaxedness with this determination.

You know that this is the path you have chosen and that you want to head in this direction,

That you want to move forward.

And as you walk along the path,

You see that there are footprints going off from the path in another direction.

And as you come to that point,

You can feel a questioning coming into your mind.

You can feel a change of mood where that determination starts to slip.

And you go into a questioning frame of mind with questioning thoughts.

Like there's a frustration there of being slowed down.

There's a doubt in there,

Thinking,

Should I go off from my path?

So just check in with that feeling before we cast that off,

Before we move forward,

Seeing what it feels like in the body.

And in a moment when you take a deep breath in,

Just feel the shoulders opening as if you're standing tall and proud.

As you breathe in deeply,

Say,

I can in your mind,

Feel yourself standing tall,

Your head upright.

And as you exhale,

Let go of that doubt,

Let go of that questioning,

Let go of that mood.

And as you breathe in again,

Feel a determination again,

Maybe even clenching your teeth a little bit.

Feel you're holding a determined smile in your face.

As you walk past the footsteps,

Past the distraction carrying on your path now.

And with each step and with each breath,

You're feeling more determined,

Letting go of any doubt,

Letting go of mental effort,

Feeling a smile on your face,

Feeling you're on the right path again,

Feeling good about yourself,

Allowing yourself to feel proud,

Maybe nodding to yourself that yes,

This was the right thing for me.

And how good it feels to just cast off a mood when it doesn't serve you.

As you continue,

Feeling a lightness,

A relaxed feeling in the body with each breath.

As you get further along the path,

You come to a point where the path goes into some woods and you can't see to the other side of the woods,

But you know that is the way you are heading.

You know that you will pass through those woods to get to your goal.

And you can see that there are footprints leaving the path and going away from the wood.

And you notice where you would have had a feeling of questioning,

Maybe a frustration,

But it feels more distant now.

You recognize the feelings in the body,

The thoughts,

But they're at a lower level and you smile to yourself and sigh out,

Very pleased at this change.

And you just continue straight into the woods.

And as you step into the woods,

You can take in their beauty now.

The woods open up,

The light coming in through the leaves above.

You feel that determination again.

With each deep breath in,

Your shoulders moving back,

Your chest opening,

Your head lifting up.

And with each exhale,

You're letting go of any doubt or any worry or frustration.

With each step forward,

You're feeling more proud of yourself,

More committed.

And you have a very peaceful,

Contented expression on your face,

The eyes relaxed.

Maybe a very small,

Peaceful smile in the mouth.

The chest feels open and relaxed as if you're standing tall,

Standing proud,

Walking with that determination,

That knowing you are carrying on the path that is right for you.

And that you're able to let go of any doubts whenever you need them,

Just with a sighing breath.

And the time it takes to breathe out,

You can let go of any negative feelings.

And with the power it takes to breathe in,

You can breathe in new feelings,

More determination,

More commitment,

A more centeredness and more clarity.

Knowing yourself better,

Being able to cast off the mood and separate those feelings from yourself.

And as you carry on the path now,

The sky opens up as you leave the wood.

And you can see now that you're near the top of where you're heading,

Nearly at the summit.

And you can see more,

And the view is more open.

And from this viewpoint with this greater clarity,

Feeling more centered,

More grounded,

Seeing your path more clearly now,

More in touch with the power of breathing in confidence and sighing out doubt.

You feel much more able to push forward on your path now.

You maybe feel a little emotional about connecting with your determination,

About connecting with that depth,

That deep depth of strength you hold within yourself.

And you allow yourself to feel this emotion,

This positivity,

This joy,

But also this deep respect for yourself,

This deep kindness to yourself,

As you realize that you push through so many doubts in life.

You do it time and time again,

Pushing forward,

Reassuring yourself,

Becoming more centered,

Getting greater clarity,

Each time taking you closer to your destination.

And as you take a few breaths now,

As you breathe in a little deeper,

Breathing into the abdomen,

Each time just saying,

I can in your mind,

And building this feeling of resilience and strength,

Of standing proud,

As if your chest is opening,

Shoulders back,

Head lifted up,

Standing in your power.

And with each breath in,

Breathing in that peaceful potential energy,

That I can energy,

And exhaling any effort.

And as you breathe deeper,

You can start building more energy into the body,

Filling the torso with this kind,

Powerful energy.

Filling the torso,

Up the shoulders down,

The arms to the fingers,

Each breath in,

Down the legs,

All the way to the toes,

Each breath in,

Filling up the head to the top,

Each breath in,

Filling up the shoulders,

The neck,

Up the face to the top of the head,

Filling the body with this powerful resilience,

This determination.

One more deep breath in,

Filling the body,

Hold,

And in a moment,

Exhale and send that determination out into the world,

Into the universe,

Into everything you do and will do.

And then slowly allow the eyes to just open a millimetre or two,

And keep that relaxation with you.

So keep the muscles relaxed,

And just open the eyes and let them stay blurry,

Opening them a bit more,

Maybe even thinking about wriggling the fingers and toes,

And stretching perhaps,

What does it feel like to move those relaxed muscles?

Noticing the relaxation,

But moving the muscles,

Moving the arms and legs,

And stretching,

Maybe yawning,

And coming fully awake,

Ready to move forward with your day,

Your week,

And ready to move forward with your life.
