Together we gather here to honour the returning of the light.
Gently turning from the north node of the medicine wheel and facing the east,
The sunrise.
The energy now honours the moment when the day and the night stand in perfect balance.
The light and the dark,
The rest and the movement,
And the moments of reflection of the winter gone by.
For thousands of years cultures all around the world have honoured this moment,
This part of the turning of the wheel.
And it reminds us that life is always moving,
Changing,
Nothing stays the same.
Within the medicine wheel,
This time marks a powerful transition.
We begin to move from the wisdom of the north,
The place of winter and stillness,
Deep ancestral knowing,
And turn toward the east,
The sunrise,
The new beginnings and the fresh life.
The north is where we have been resting,
Learning,
Reflecting and listening.
The east node is where the first light appears on the horizon.
Not rushing,
Not forcing,
Gently whispering a new day is coming.
Together now honour this moment between the two nodes where one foot may still be placed in the north node in the winter and one foot placed in the east in the spring.
Let your body truly,
Deeply soften,
Your shoulders drop away from your ears,
And allow your eyes to roll down as if you are looking into your heart.
Take a slow,
Nourishing breath in through your nose,
And release it really slowly through your mouth.
Breathing in,
And letting go.
Honour the earth and Pachamama's energy beneath you now,
Acknowledging that this incredible planet has witnessed countless seasons before this one.
It is part of nature,
It is part of the cycle.
Imagine beautiful deep red or brown roots growing from the base of your spine,
Down through the soles of your feet and reaching deep into the earth,
Down through the layers of soil,
Down into the quiet,
Steady heart of Pachamama.
Feel her strength beneath you,
For she has seen many winters,
She has known darkness and storms,
And yet she always trusts that the light will return.
You are transitioning now from the direction of the north node,
The place of our ancestors,
The place of reflection and of the wisdom gained through experience.
The north node does not rush,
It asks us to slow down even more,
To sit beside the fireplace and listen to the quiet voice within.
Take a moment here to reflect on the winter season that you have just walked through,
The last few months of your journey.
What did the winter ask of you?
Stillness,
Patience,
Courage.
Perhaps it asked you to release something that had reached its natural ending,
And you needed to let go.
You needed the support and guidance to see it through.
And just for a moment now,
Imagine yourself standing in a vast winter landscape,
Snow covering the earth and the bare trees stretching towards the sky.
At first it may appear silent and still,
Beneath the surface,
The seeds are resting,
The roots are growing,
And life is preparing for its next season.
Winter is never truly empty,
It is simply hidden growth.
Place a hand on your heart,
Thank you north for the wisdom that you have given me.
Now in this landscape,
Look towards the horizon,
Just before sunrise,
The moment where the night begins to soften,
And the world pauses in perfect balance.
This is the gift of the equinox,
The light and the shadow,
The strength and the softness.
This is the moment where we gently begin to turn our faces towards the east,
The direction of the rising sun,
The place where each new day is born.
Breathe in to the soft,
Glowing colours of dawn,
And imagine or feel now the earth beginning to warm beneath your feet,
The frozen soil slowly softening,
The first quiet stirrings of spring,
The seeds that have rested through the winter are beginning to awaken,
And the seeds that are within you are also beginning to come to life,
Dreams waiting patiently,
Ideas there but not yet fully formed,
New ways of living and being.
Ask softly,
What seeds within me are ready to grow this season,
This spring?
And allow anything to arise here,
A feeling,
A word,
An emotion,
Maybe your seed is courage,
Maybe your seed is creativity,
Maybe your seed is trust or love or joy or freedom,
Imagine planting your seeds in the soil of your heart centre,
Feel the warmth of the returning sun shining upon it now,
The sun of the east,
The direction of new beginnings,
The direction of new life.
And with each breath now,
Nurture the seeds,
Give them space,
Give them patience,
Give them confidence,
Seeds grow when it's right for them to grow,
They don't rush and neither should you.
Now imagine the sun rising fully above the horizon,
The golden light spreading across the earth,
The energy of the east node,
The warmth,
The awakening,
The possibilities,
The new paths appearing where none existed before,
Feel the warmth and the light slowly moving towards you,
Touching your skin,
Feeling your heart flowing through your body,
This light carries renewal and hope,
And fresh energy for your journey ahead,
Allow it to fill every part of you until you are a bright,
Glowing,
Radiant being,
Let it soften any heaviness the winter may have left behind,
And let it remind you of something simple and yet so powerful,
You are allowed to begin again,
The east does not ask you to be perfect,
It simply invites you to step forward with curiosity,
Thank you to the east,
Thank you.
Now taking a moment to honour all of the sacred directions within our beautiful medicine wheel,
Take a soft breath in and release,
As just for now you turn to the north,
The place of winter and wisdom,
Thank you for the stillness that allowed us to reflect,
For the lessons that strengthened our roots,
For the quiet knowing that grows in the dark soil of experience,
May we carry your wisdom forward,
To honour the east,
The place of the rising sun,
We welcome your light,
Thank you for the promise of new beginnings,
For the courage to take the first step into the unknown,
May your light guide our path,
We honour the south,
The place of warmth and trust and joy and living,
May we remember to walk this path with open hearts,
With laughter and with kindness toward ourselves,
And we honour the west,
The place of transformation and deep truth,
And we thank the west for the courage to release what is complete,
May we trust the cycles of life knowing that every ending is also a doorway to new beginnings,
And finally we come to the centre,
And we honour Pachamama once more,
The great mother who holds us through every season,
May we walk gently upon her,
May we listen to her wisdom,
And may we remember that we belong to this living world,
And the wheel continues to turn,
And so do we.
Equinox blessings to you all.
