Before we begin,

Please make sure you're somewhere safe where you can fully relax,

Not driving,

Not operating machinery,

Just free to let your whole system rest.

I'm Chibzo Karake and this is a vagus nerve sleep meditation,

Designed to help your mind and body unwind.

Tonight,

We'll be gently engaging your vagus nerve,

The body's natural rest and digest pathway,

So you can fall asleep more easily and rest more deeply.

In the next few minutes,

We'll begin by gently focusing on your breath.

We'll do some slow,

Easy breathing to softly stimulate the vagus nerve,

Allowing longer,

Softer exhales to tell the body it's safe to rest.

And then,

We'll move into a soothing body scan,

A gradual release of tension,

Inviting you into the quiet ease of a deep and lasting sleep.

After the initial relaxation gently guides you into rest,

You'll hear calming affirmations,

Softly repeating in the background.

These soothing phrases will begin looping once the hypnosis portion is complete,

Gradually fading quieter and quieter as the session goes on.

Even when your conscious mind sleeps peacefully,

Your subconscious mind will continue to absorb the positive signals,

Supporting deep,

Uninterrupted rest.

There's nothing you need to do and no way you need to feel.

You don't even have to listen to every word.

You can just let the sound wash over you,

While some quieter part of you takes in whatever it needs.

Just allow yourself to settle and let the day slowly fade from view.

This practice,

When repeated regularly,

Can improve your vagal tone and the benefits may begin to ripple out into the rest of your life.

You might notice less tension,

Steadier energy,

A clearer mind,

Even a sense of being more resilient,

More grounded,

More at ease.

As your vagus nerve becomes more responsive to these simple cues of safety and rest.

And it all begins simply by giving yourself this small window of time to soften and to welcome sleep.

A good night's sleep can make a real difference.

Not just tonight,

But gradually,

Slowly,

Gently,

Over time.

So consider this a gift to yourself,

A simple act of care,

To step back for a while and let your whole system reset.

Take a moment now to settle in.

Make sure you're comfortable and that any alarms are set,

So you don't have to think about them again.

Let your body rest and allow any leftover thoughts to soften and return to the background.

You may notice a quiet sense of choosing calm,

Choosing rest.

This is a moment where you can let the pace slow,

Where the need to think or plan or figure things out can take a break.

When you feel ready,

Allow your eyes to gently close,

As if turning the page on the day behind you and beginning to tune in to what's here now.

You don't need to chase any thoughts or push anything away,

There's nothing you need to control.

Just rest in the space behind closed eyes,

Where stillness can begin to unfold on its own.

As thoughts pass by,

Like slow moving clouds in a quiet sky,

Let yourself rest in a relaxed awareness,

Just gently in the background,

Not needing to focus,

Not needing to try,

Simply knowing that you're safe to let go now.

Or soon,

As your system prepares to drift into the deeper layers of sleep,

Your body knows how to settle,

Just as it knows how to breathe.

So,

Allow the breath to flow naturally,

In its own rhythm,

Like a tide that rises and falls all on its own.

Each slow,

Easy breath sends a gentle message along the vagus nerve,

Letting your body know that it can stand down from alertness and return to rest and digest.

Each exhale softens you,

Like a small release valve for the day.

And if it feels comfortable,

You may allow the out-breath to be just a little longer than the in-breath,

As if you're gently sighing out any leftover effort,

A simple way of inviting the vagus nerve to soothe the whole system,

Letting your heart rate ease and your whole body beginning to settle a little more.

You might follow this easy pattern for a few breaths,

Keeping the exhale slightly longer each time.

Every longer,

Softer exhale can be like a small step down into a deeper level of calm.

And with each exhale,

You may notice a little more weight in the body,

A little more contact with the surface beneath you,

A little less effort.

The out-breath stretching out softly,

Like a gentle wave that takes the last of the tension with it.

Each inhale can be soft and unhurried,

Just enough to refill the lungs,

Bringing just a little more ease,

Nourishing the body and giving the vagus nerve another chance to notice that you're safe here,

Safe to soften,

Safe to rest.

You might take one more slow,

Comfortable breath in and a slightly longer,

Easy breath out,

And then allow the natural rhythm of your breathing to continue on its own.

Knowing that whenever you like,

You can return to those longer exhales to support this gradual shift into rest.

And if you like,

You might begin to imagine that ease travelling downward,

A gentle wave moving slowly through you.

You could picture it as a soft warmth flowing into your feet,

Or like the quiet glow of evening light,

Sinking gently below the horizon,

Spreading calm as it goes.

You might notice a subtle change,

A tingling,

Or a settling,

Or perhaps just a quiet awareness that something inside you is starting to rest.

No need to force it,

Just follow the feeling and let it spread in its own way,

In its own time.

Let this feeling continue,

Soft and steady,

Moving through the feet now,

Like a gentle flow of warmth or stillness,

Spreading into every toe.

You might like to gently wiggle your toes,

Noticing the small contraction and the even softer release that follows.

There's no rush here,

Just a quiet unfolding as the muscles and joints begin to settle and the feet feel heavier,

Or maybe just quieter than before.

You may notice the soles of your feet,

The arches,

The heels,

All gradually letting go.

As if they're exhaling too,

This calm may feel like a soft hum,

Or like the comfort of sinking into just the right temperature.

Whatever sensations arise,

Allow them to be just as they are.

Let the breath gently support this ease,

As oxygen and circulation find their way down into every fiber that's ready to rest.

And from here,

The warmth continues upward,

Into the ankles,

The lower legs.

You may even imagine it as a slow,

Sweet current of comfort,

Moving up the body with each breath.

If you'd like,

You can gently flex your feet or lower legs for a moment.

And then release again,

Noticing what shifts as you begin to settle even more deeply into stillness.

With each slow breath in,

You may imagine a quiet,

Calming energy flowing downward,

Settling into the tissues of your legs,

Restoring,

Soothing,

Softening every part it touches.

Just allow your awareness to gently float upward now,

Into the thighs,

Into the longer muscles of your upper legs,

Into the lower legs.

You might begin to notice any areas that still feel a little tense or holding on,

Even slightly.

And rather than trying to change anything,

Just bringing a gentle curiosity to what's there as you invite those areas to soften in their own time.

You might become aware of the front of your thighs and the back of your thighs,

Both beginning to yield gently,

Slowly,

Naturally.

And even if you don't feel anything specific,

That's okay too.

Trust that with each easy breath,

Your body knows what to do.

Trust that your legs are receiving everything they need to fully let go.

As this soft wave of relaxation continues,

You may begin to sense your whole lower body now melting into the support beneath you.

No need to try,

Just a gradual shift.

From the outer pace of the day into the slower rhythm of sleep.

Let your awareness continue to settle,

Gently exploring the deeper stillness that lives in you.

In the center of your body,

You may begin to notice the hips now,

Where so much of the day's movement begins and ends.

And with each slow breath,

A sense of softness begins to move through this area.

There's no need to rush,

Just notice the quiet surrender as the muscles around the hips begin to let go.

Joints loosening,

Space returning,

And with it,

A deeper wave of ease.

This may be the moment where the body starts to feel heavier,

As if part of you is already drifting further,

Deeper,

Into rest.

Bringing your awareness now to the belly and simply noticing the gentle rise and fall of your breath with no need to change it,

Just the soft rhythm moving through you like waves on a quiet shore.

There's a natural calm here that lives just below the surface of thinking,

Something steady,

Grounding,

Familiar.

And you may begin to feel that calm spreading outward around the lower back where each small vertebra begins to soften and release.

And along the spine,

The long,

Wandering vagus nerve receives these signals of softness,

Carrying the message of safety deeper into your whole system.

Imagine more space opening up here,

More comfort,

More comfort,

More relief.

Allow yourself to follow that feeling like a breeze that knows where it's going,

Moving softly through the center of your being and now gently you may begin to float upward again toward the chest noticing the subtle movement beneath the ribs,

The quiet expansion and return as each breath becomes slower,

Calmer,

Deeper,

Deeper.

As you continue to breathe you may notice the ribs gently responding,

Expanding when they need to,

Settling back again with ease,

No effort,

Just the natural rhythm of a body finding its way into rest.

And perhaps now you feel a quiet deepening as the space across your upper back begins to open the area between the shoulder blades softening,

Spreading allowing a little more comfort to flow in.

You may even imagine your breath reaching into this space bringing with it a kind of healing stillness,

A soft spaciousness that knows how to soothe and support you.

There's nothing to hold onto here,

Nothing to solve,

Just the breath notice the gentle melting away of tension.

With each exhale the body lets go and the mind begins to drift towards a new world.

Thoughts can come and go like leaves floating downstream you don't need to follow them and each time you notice your mind has wandered that can be a gentle sign that you're already drifting a little deeper into rest.

Let this wave of rest continue moving into the shoulders flowing down the arms through the elbows the forearms into the hands and each of your fingers everything softens everything rests even the neck now letting go just a little more the throat releasing the jaw loosening and as the throat softens the pathway of the vagus nerve that travels through this area can ease too sending a quiet signal of calm down through the chest and belly from the lips to the cheeks all the tiny muscles begin to settle and now around the eyes across the brow through the temples you may begin to notice any final traces of tension simply softening smoothing out fading away the forehead relaxes the scalp loosens and the entire head beginning to feel a little heavier more at rest even around the ears the sides of the face a stillness begins to settle in until the whole upper part of your body feels quiet calm complete there's nothing more to do now just rest as you drift naturally into sleep and as you do your whole system continues to breathe gently taking in what it needs letting everything else go with the vagus nerve quietly supporting this deep shift into rest and digest you may imagine this rest moving through you quietly restoring what needs care bringing bringing ease to every layer of your being soft waves of rest travel deeper now carrying comfort into the background of the mind into the body into the breath everything slows everything softens and without even trying you may find yourself drifting now into a sleep that feels steady replenishing the kind of sleep that teaches your body how to feel safe again how to let go how to truly rest and as you drift night after night you may come to know this place well this soft landing this quiet return to yourself and as you rest here you may allow a few gentle phrases to continue in the background like a soft voice of reassurance speaking quietly to the deeper parts of your mind there's nothing you need to do with these words you can simply let them wash through you as you drift in sleep even if you sleep deeply some quieter part of you can hear what's helpful and can let the rest simply fade away you are safe to rest now your
