Welcome to this guided meditation on mindful tech use.

In a world filled with constant connectivity,

This meditation will help you to find balance and presence in your relationship with technology.

Find a comfortable seated position,

Close your eyes or take a soft gaze,

And let's begin.

Let's start by taking a deep cleansing breath.

Inhale deeply,

Filling your lungs with air,

And exhale slowly,

Releasing any tension you're holding in your body.

As you breathe,

Bring your awareness to this present moment.

Let the breath flow,

Releasing tension in your shoulders,

Your abdomen,

Your neck,

Your jaw,

Perhaps your tongue,

Anywhere where you're holding tension.

Just let the out-breath melt this tension.

Imagine your mind as a vast sky and your thoughts like clouds passing slowly through this large expanse of sky.

I invite you to observe your thoughts without judgment,

Letting them pass,

Acknowledging every thought,

Judgment,

Impulse as perfectly good,

Valid,

Okay,

And letting your internal reality simply change.

Now bring your attention to the sensations in your body.

Feel the points of contact between your body and the surface you're sitting on.

Notice any areas of tension or relaxation,

And as we explore mindful tech use,

Consider the devices that play a role in your daily life.

Could be a smartphone,

Television,

Computer.

Bring them to mind without any attachment or aversion.

You might even imagine this device floating through the sky that you imagined,

Or passing neutrally.

These devices are tools,

And you have the power to choose how you use them.

Now visualize a gentle stream flowing in front of you.

Each ripple on the water's surface represents a notification,

An alert,

Or a distraction coming from your device.

Watch these ripples come and go,

And notice how you react.

If judgments or thoughts arise,

Or sensations in the body,

See if you can just welcome those,

Bringing a mindful awareness.

Can you find a space of stillness amidst the movement?

Now imagine yourself placing your devices by the side of the stream on the ground.

See them resting there,

Temporarily released from your attention,

And feel the weight lifted as you let go of the need to constantly check or respond.

Bring your focus back to your breath.

Inhale,

And with each exhale,

Release any attachment to your devices.

Let your breath anchor you in the present moment.

Let the breath flow in and out.

Like a mountain,

You stand strong and grounded.

Just as a mountain is unmoved by the changing weather,

You can remain steady amidst the ever-changing landscape of technology,

Social media,

Anything that might capture your attention.

There'll always be things happening out in the world.

See if you can simply observe and remain with yourself in the present moment.

As you continue to breathe,

Imagine a warm,

Gentle light radiating out from your heart center.

This light represents your intention for mindful tech use.

It's a reminder of the balance you seek in your relationship with technology.

In these final moments,

Bring to mind one simple action you can take to use your devices more mindfully as you go forward into the rest of your day.

It could be as simple as taking a deep breath before unlocking your phone,

Or setting designated tech-free times in your day,

Or something else.

As you set this intention,

Take a moment to thank yourself for taking this time,

For living a life examined,

For valuing your time.

Slowly start to bring your awareness back to the room,

Wiggle your fingers and toes,

And when you're ready,

Gently open your eyes.

I invite you to carry this sense of balance and presence with you as you navigate the world of technology.

Remember that you have the power to use your devices as tools that enhance your life,

Rather than distract from it.

Thank you for joining me in this meditation.

May you continue to cultivate mindfulness in all aspects of your life.
