In this short expanded awareness practice, you’ll expand your attention beyond the body to explore the energetic field around you. This meditation helps dissolve the boundary between inside and outside & feel the energetic flow and permeation of space in the body, inviting a deeper sense of spacious presence.

Find a comfortable seat.

If it's comfortable for your body,

Turn your palms up in your lap or wherever they are.

And as your eyes gently close,

Get a sense of your hands.

And then begin to get a sense of the space and energy in your palms.

So right outside your skin.

Begin to expand that awareness to everything in front of your body.

So in front of your legs and torso,

Energy above your hands.

Just get a sense of the space in front of your body.

As you do this,

You might get a sense of where your body ends,

Your skin,

And where that space begins.

But as we sit with this awareness,

We also begin to lose touch with that a little bit and feel the area just outside our bodies and inside our bodies as similar.

The energetic flow,

The space outside our bodies can move into our bodies and vice versa.

Just sit with that feeling of awareness in front of our body and see how that might interact with our sense inside our body for a moment.

And as we settle into this awareness,

We can let the awareness expand to the sides of our body,

The right and left of us.

Let that awareness expand to the area behind us and where our body and the area behind us meet.

And in this way,

We begin to get a sense of all the energy and space around us.

And we may feel that energy and space easily permeate our skin and enter our bodies so that the feeling inside our body and outside our body is similar or the same.

Maybe just a exploration for a moment.

So we'll sit quietly for a moment and just explore sensations inside and outside the body in this way.

And now slowly begin to deepen your breath and notice how that affects your awareness.

Slightly bigger inhalations and exhalations.

And without losing any of the awarenesses we might have picked up over the last few minute moments,

Let's very slowly open our eyes.

And see if we can keep a felt sense of our body and space around us and breath as our eyes slowly open.
