Making Confident Decisions
You become anxious about making decisions when you fear you won't make the 'perfect' one. This stops your progress, this causes low self-belief and is followed by regret. I invite you to release your grip on perfection and realize that you're much better at making decisions that you previously thought possible. When your self-confidence blooms, better decision making becomes natural and even quite an enjoyable experience. Join me and I'll show you how.

I'd like to invite you to take a few moments with me,
To find your own comfortable position,
Nothing forced,
Nothing strained,
Just a comfortable position,
Sitting or laying,
Just calm,
Just breathing,
And allowing your eyes to comfortably close down,
For now,
Just allowing the outside world to take a back seat,
Breathing in and out,
In your own way,
Calmly,
No counting,
No holding that breath,
Allowing your natural breathing rhythm to arrive.
You're listening today because making decisions sometimes causes a challenge,
And that's true for us all.
We're on this planet,
Part of this plane of existence,
And there's a lot going on.
Every day we have choices presented to us.
Some choices seem fairly easy to decide upon,
Some options require more thought.
If decisions aren't made,
We don't move forward,
And life begins to happen to us.
And decisions are made,
We enjoy,
We learn,
And we grow from the experience,
Even if they turn out to be the wrong decision.
We still took charge of our life in that moment,
We made a decision,
We did the best we could,
With the knowledge we had at the time,
We took control of our own action in the moment.
I'd like you to consider this perspective.
I wonder if you've ever thought how difficult it is not to make decisions,
But to not make decisions.
Well I know that might sound a bit confusing,
But you see to not make decisions is often more difficult than it is to make decisions.
Because you have to decide that you will not make a decision,
But then you realise that you actually did make a decision after all.
You made the decision not to make a decision.
And now perhaps you can understand what I mean when I say that it's actually very difficult to not make a decision.
And because of this you can already begin to realise that actually you do make decisions quite easily,
Even when you decide to not make decisions.
And isn't it interesting that notion that even deciding to not make a decision is making a decision?
Because it means that you easily make decisions after all.
But of course what most people mean when they say they can't make a decision is something quite different.
What they mean to say is that you're not sure that you make the right decisions when it's important to do so.
And some decisions are more important than others of course.
Most of the time when you have to make decisions there can be an anxiety that someone else might not think you made the right choice.
Or that someone else may think they could have done better.
So from this day forward,
Whenever you have to make decisions for yourself,
If you think somebody else might be critical of that decision,
You'll find yourself thinking,
So what?
So what?
If somebody criticises a decision you make,
You'll find yourself thinking,
So what?
And recognise the great truth.
That it was after all your decision to make,
Not theirs.
And you made that decision to the best of your ability.
Which is all that any of us can do.
You've been making decisions without realising it,
For years.
It's something that you are actually very skilled at.
Deciding to wake up in the morning,
Deciding to catch a bus or drive a car or cycle or deciding to walk.
Deciding to not make up your mind just at the moment about something or other.
Deciding to listen today to help make confident decisions.
Or perhaps just deciding to wonder why making decisions looks so easy for some people and yet can seem so difficult for others.
Because every action you take,
Everything you do,
Has to start with a thought.
And then a decision to act upon that thought.
And all of this,
It happens in the background most of the time.
Without you even being aware that it's happening.
So you see,
When you think you can't make decisions,
You actually can.
Because just to say that you can't make decisions started with a thought.
And with a decision to speak that thought.
Even just to yourself.
So now I want you to make a very simple and very important decision right at this moment.
I want you to decide to absorb and to act upon all the positive suggestions that I'm saying to you here and now.
Just decide that you will absorb and act upon all the positives that I'm saying to you right now.
And even though you might not yet know exactly how you'll do that,
It's only necessary at this moment to decide that you will act upon all the positives that I say to you here and now about making confident decisions.
And that powerful mind of yours,
It will do the rest of the work.
So you see,
You can actually make decisions quite easily.
And it might be that you're now beginning to understand that only some decisions are difficult to make.
When you're just not quite sure of what the outcome might be perhaps.
Or if you'll be able to cope with the outcome,
If it wasn't the outcome that you'd hoped for.
Maybe because you can think of several different options.
You might have trouble making up your mind,
Deciding which one you want most.
So that sometimes it might be that you actually get none of the outcomes that you want,
But something quite different instead.
Sometimes I know that you'll be thinking something like,
But what if I get it wrong?
We all do from time to time.
What if I get it wrong?
But that might actually be the wrong thing that you'll get.
By hesitating.
By wondering.
When you take no action at all.
When you let somebody or something else be in charge of your life for those decisions.
That might actually be the wrong thing that you'll get.
Because every time you decide not to make a decision.
Every time you decide to think for a while about the decision that you might decide to make.
You give others the opportunity to decide instead.
So that the decision is based on their life,
Their desires,
Their wishes,
Their wants,
Their hopes,
Instead of yours.
But that would mean that you'd decided to hand control over to them.
And that would still be your decision.
But perhaps not the one you really wanted.
So from this day forward,
You're going to find something exciting happening.
Something that might at first surprise you,
Then delight you,
Then even thrill you.
You're going to discover that whenever you need to make a decision,
You will become so aware.
So aware that you're already in the process of making a decision that you will instantly know what choice to make.
And you'll make that decision confidently and easily.
You'll begin to discover that you make decisions confidently and easily.
And you can be delighted at how clearly your mind can function.
How easily you can make decisions when choices are available.
How you instantly know what course of action to take when you have to decide.
In fact,
It's going to begin to seem that you once made a decision.
And that once you've made that decision,
You recognize immediately and confidently that it is your decision.
That it belongs fully to you.
It's something you've decided.
Something you decided was the best course of action,
Given all the information you had at the time.
So you took action.
You took charge of your life.
And because of this,
You will find yourself feeling confident.
Because you've decided on a course of action.
You've made a decision.
You'll find yourself to feel so confident at deciding on a course of action.
So confident on deciding on a course of action that it will seem to you that it never really was a problem in the first place.
You'll find yourself to feel so confident that you make decisions easily and because it's going to feel this way.
Because you make decisions easily.
You'll find yourself becoming an inspiration.
Perhaps even to others.
And that always feels good.
So from this day forward,
You're going to find something exciting happening.
Something that might surprise you,
Delight you and thrill you.
You're going to discover that whenever you need to make a decision,
You will become so aware that you're already within that process of making a decision.
That you will instantly know what choice to make.
And you'll make that decision confidently and easily.
Eager to discover the outcome.
And you'll begin to discover that you make decisions confidently and easily and you can be delighted at how clearly your mind functions.
How easily you can make choices when they're available to you.
How you instantly know what course of action to take when you have to decide.
And it's going to begin to seem to you that once you've made a decision,
You recognize immediately and confidently that it is your decision.
It belongs to you.
It's something that you've decided was the best course of action,
Considering all the information that you had at the time.
Because of this,
You'll find yourself feeling supremely confident at deciding on a course of action to take and making that decision.
You'll find yourself feeling confident from now on.
So confident at deciding on a simple course of action that it will seem to you that it never really was an issue in the first place.
You'll find yourself feeling really confident that you can make decisions easily and simply.
And because it's going to be this way,
Because you now make decisions easily,
You'll be taking control of your life.
You may even find yourself becoming an inspiration to others.
And that always feels good.
So allow your mind to absorb all the positives you've heard today.
Allow all those positive words and thoughts and feelings to sink deep down into your mind to bring about this confidence,
This confidence that's always been there,
But just needed a little nudge in the right direction.
So I'm going to count from one to five.
And you can use this count to slowly bring your mind and body back to here and now,
The present,
Where you can allow this relaxation to continue into all areas of your day.
And you can allow that confidence to blossom,
To exude out,
To fill your life with confident energy.
Let's start with one,
Two,
Three,
Four,
And five.
Eyes open,
Wide awake.
Take a nice deep breath if you want to have a stretch perhaps.
Welcome back.

Thank you, I do make decisions, sometimes with difficulty, but then I talk myself out of them. I never realized that is another way I give my power away, all the time, can also make a decision and not vocialise it. As a senior, this is an important insight, so hopefully can change this now. Thank you again.
