Welcome to a quick meditation to help you reset,
Reconnect,
And recharge here at school.
Meditation helps you be a better student because it helps you process the stress in your life as well as improve your ability to concentrate.
Group meditations are very powerful because when you can truly let go in a group you build trust and this decreases your stress in that environment.
Are you ready to begin?
This practice can be done in your standard school chairs or in another place your teacher has determined.
Get as comfortable as you can.
Sit up straight,
Roll your shoulders back,
Place your hands in a comfortable position,
Take a deep deep breath,
And close your eyes.
Take another deep breath and begin to listen.
Listen to the sounds outside and around your classroom.
Try not to label the sounds as good or bad.
Just take notice.
Now focus on the sounds of your own body.
Can you hear your breathing,
Your heartbeat?
Focus on the breathing.
Listen and feel your breath.
Thoughts are going to pop up.
This is normal.
Recognize them as thoughts and let them go.
If your mind is really wandering it can help you to place your hands on your belly or your chest to really feel the air move.
Can you make your breath deeper?
Can you really fill your belly with air slowly and release it slowly?
In this moment you are safe.
You are free of stress and you're just breathing.
If it helps you to focus you can say in every time you breathe in and out every time you breathe out.
If thoughts pop up recognize them and let them go.
Right here in this moment all you have to do is breathe.
Take a deep breath and release it slowly.
Slowly begin to wiggle your toes and fingers if possible.
Smile,
Take a deep breath and when you're ready open your eyes.
Anytime you're feeling stressed or overwhelmed return to your breath.
Thank you.
Namaste.
