Why Worry?

Worry about the future is one of our favorite mental pastimes that we use to pass the time.

We create negative images of possible futures and use them to keep ourself in a state of perpetual anxiety or tension.

Regret and worry are the two mortal enemies of our creative potential.

The first step towards the mastery of our mental resources is to learn to forget the past and ignore the future.

Letting go of our story.

Have the faith that all will be well.

All will turn out exactly as it should,

No matter what happens.

To realize that your peace and happiness in life can never be found in the past or in the future,

But only in the now,

In the present.

A no regrets and no worries approach to life does not mean we don't learn from what has just gone.

It does not mean we don't make a plan.

But learning and moving on,

Planning and acting on our plans are not regret and worry.

To get a clearer sense of the difference between the two,

We need to make some time daily for reflection.

Don't confuse regretting or worrying with caring.

Hah, I remember as a child to return from having a jolly good time only to meet my concerned mother kindly tell me “I wish you__ I worried about you”. I’d explain it seems silly to do that. Then I’d wonder how worry was concern? Whenever I wonder if I’m starting to worry for someone, I just remember my Mom’s worry was no favor. Now this is also the time I became a tremendous dreamer, so living in the present is a wee bit bigger challenge. Thank you Jay.

Ahhh the old familiar friend, Worry. To surrender control To accept that I cannot control what I'm worrying over. Define my part, God's part, next right action, and leave outcome to God. That makes surrender if we infinitely easier... To not get sucked into habit loop, what an I worrying about? Awareness Acceptance Action

I appreciated the reminder that worry and regret are not the same as planning and remembering.
