Today I'm sharing a guided peaceful Shavasana meditation.
This meditation can be practiced at the end of a yoga class,
During a self-practice at home,
Or any time you need to ground into your body and relax.
Let's begin by lying on your back,
Your arms and legs splayed out to the sides,
Palms face the ceiling to receive energy.
If it feels supportive,
Place a cushion underneath your knees and your head for comfort,
Close down your eyes and slow the breathing down.
Big breath in,
Big breath out.
Feel your body settling onto your mat,
Cradled by the earth beneath you,
And notice where your body connects with the earth,
Your heels,
Your legs,
Your hips,
Your hands,
Your arms,
Your spine,
Your shoulder blades,
And the back of your head.
Breathe in deeply,
And as you exhale,
Let your body melt,
Growing heavier and still.
Another big breath,
Expanding through the belly,
And release the breath with ease.
Allow your breath to find a gentle,
Natural rhythm.
As the breath slows down,
The body follows,
Easing into peace and relaxation.
With every slow breath,
Your heart rate gently slows,
Welcoming calm and serenity.
Now,
Envision a radiant glow enveloping your entire body with warmth and healing.
Bring awareness to your toes,
Where the radiant glow weaves through each one,
Inviting softness.
The radiant glow flows over the soles of your feet,
Circling your ankles,
Bringing warmth and release.
It glides up your calves,
Bathing them in soothing light.
The radiant glow moves through your knees,
Softening joints,
Easing tension.
It wraps your thighs in warmth,
Letting them soften and rest.
The radiant glow flows through your hips,
Dissolving tightness and nurturing peace.
It travels down your arms,
Through your elbows,
And into your wrists.
The radiant glow dances through your fingertips,
Each one softly releasing.
The radiant glow swirls across your belly,
Touching each organ with tender light,
Easing all tension.
It encircles your ribcage,
Warming each rib.
The radiant glow reaches your heart,
Lifting heaviness,
Inviting openness with each breath.
Inhale deeply and release a soft sigh.
Notice your breath flowing freely now.
The radiant glow glides to your shoulders,
Letting them sink deeply into the earth.
Everything softens and releases.
It flows to the back of your neck,
Soothing any tightness.
Your jaw relaxes,
Letting go.
The radiant glow warms your face,
Your cheeks,
Your nose,
Your forehead.
The muscles of your brow soften.
Your mind follows,
Easing into stillness.
With each soft exhale,
Release what no longer serves.
The radiant glow rises to your crown,
Circling gently,
Bathing your mind in pure,
Tender light.
Thoughts dissolve,
Touched by kindness.
The radiant glow expands,
Enveloping your entire being in a nurturing embrace.
You feel lightness in the body,
Mind and spirit.
Rest here in the sacred stillness.
Bring awareness back into the body.
Wiggling the fingers and toes,
Perhaps move the head from side to side.
Take a big stretch for the arms over the head.
Awakening gently.
Draw your knees to your chest,
Letting them fall to one side.
Your head resting gently on your arms,
Like a tender pillow.
Pause in this nourishing fetal position,
Feeling its warmth.
Beautiful.
With eyes still closed,
Rise gently to a seated position.
Draw your hands to your heart in Anjali Mudra.
Drop your forehead to your hands and reflect on something you are grateful for.
