Welcome to your practice.
Over the past few weeks,
We've been building awareness of breathing.
Today,
We're going to take the practice a step further.
Instead of just noticing the breath,
We're going to refine how the breath moves through the body and how we can use it intentionally throughout your day.
When breathing becomes more efficient,
The body doesn't have to work as hard to maintain oxygen and carbon dioxide balance.
This often translates into clearer thinking,
Steadier energy,
And less physical tension throughout the day.
Let's begin.
Find a comfortable seat.
Have some back support.
And when you feel ready,
Begin to close the eyes.
Let's take a nice,
Deep inhale through the nose.
And release with a long,
Slow exhale through the mouth.
Taking a few breaths at your own pace here,
Just to release any built-up tension or noise in the mind.
Long exhale.
Inhale for two.
And one.
And for the last one here,
I want you to inhale again for two.
And really exhale every last bit of breath on the exhale.
Extending the breath as much as you can.
As we mentioned,
For this practice,
We're refining how the breath moves through the body.
So just notice if you feel any sensations,
Maybe tingling,
Or even just a little more space.
Our breath is one of the quickest ways to release tension and shift our internal state.
Now for one of my favorite techniques.
Using any hand,
You're going to close off your nostril with your thumb.
So close off the right nostril to start.
And we're going to inhale through the left.
So blocking that right nostril,
Inhale through your left.
And then close off the left at the top of the inhale,
And exhale through the right.
Now I want you to inhale at the bottom of that breath,
Through the right nostril.
At the top of that breath,
Close off the right nostril and exhale through the left.
And exhale through the right.
You'll get the hang of it.
Inhale through the right,
Filling the belly.
Close off the right,
And exhale through the left.
When that feels complete,
Inhale through the left again.
Close off the left and exhale through the right.
Close off the right,
And exhale through the left.
Closing it off,
Exhale through the right,
The right,
And exhaling through the left.
Maybe keep the eyes closed just a little longer here.
Notice any subtle shifts in the mind or body.
That last technique is amazing for balancing the right and left side of our brain,
Our body.
Balancing the passive and active energies.
Bringing us to a really nice neutral,
At ease state.
Beautiful work.
Let's take one more deep inhale here together.
Use any time throughout the day to support focus and steady energy,
Or simply give you just a moment to yourself to reset.
