When we start sitting,
Let's ask ourselves,
What is the quality of our presence while we are sitting?
During the meditation there is nothing to do,
Apart from being fully present,
By focusing all our energy on embodied awareness,
Fully concentrating on posture and breath.
One could see the meditation as the perfect occasion to think things over,
As there isn't anything else to do in the moment.
Yet,
The power of the meditation is not in the thinking,
In the mental process that weighs pros and cons,
That analyzes and projects,
That way of functioning,
Based on separating self from the universe,
Is our mental mode in daily life,
Where it is needed to make choices.
However,
During the meditation there are no choices to make,
There is just sitting,
Fully attentive to what is there,
Without choosing,
Without rejecting,
Just being fully present.
By being fully present,
The knots that got tied inside the mind,
The preconceptions and filters,
Our conditioned patterns,
Our fears and griefs,
Gradually untie and dissolve,
And our mind becomes truly free again,
Unconditioned,
Clear and open to new possibilities.
By being fully present to the body posture and the flow of our breath,
The mind starts working differently,
We enter the realm of non-duality,
That is,
We naturally reunite with the spiritual dimension of our being,
Profoundly interconnected with the entire universe,
Reuniting body and mind in the practice,
We enter communion with our ultimate potential,
Our divine nature,
And in this state of deep absorption,
In fully embodied awareness,
We can find total coherence.
Feeling the response of true relationship with who we really are in essence,
The resonance between our effort to practice meditation and the life-giving force.
As a result,
This life-giving force radiates into our lives through creativity and connection,
In all the interactions we have with the outer world,
With more harmony,
With more care,
For both our own and others' needs.
As a result,
We naturally develop to become more confident,
Resilient and equanimous in the face of change.
We naturally develop to become more compassionate and joyful for the well-being of others,
And more benevolent to address the complex and urgent challenges we face as humanity on planet Earth.
Let's remain fully present.
