There are moments when even the simplest things feel like too much, when your mind shuts the door and says, “I can’t do this.” This video is for those moments. In this space, you will gently understand where that response comes from, how it quietly keeps you stuck, and how to meet it differently. This is not about pushing harder or becoming more disciplined. It’s about softening the overwhelm, breaking things down and rediscovering your capacity in a way that feels manageable. Return to this track whenever you feel overwhelmed by tasks, when you are avoiding something important, or caught in the loop of overthinking and let it guide you back into motion, one small step at a time.

Hello beautiful being,

Welcome to this video.

My name is Aneesha and today we are going to talk about this thought or belief that I can't do this.

Have you ever looked at a task?

Maybe it's a difficult email,

A new project or even just a pile of laundry or dishes and before you even started you were like oh you know I can't do this,

I can't handle this right now.

That's not a verdict on your ability,

It's your brain panicking about how big,

How urgent or how complex this moment feels.

Today we are going to look at why your brain triggers these emergency breaks every time things feel like too much or how this thought that I can't do this is quietly keeping you stuck in overwhelm and finally we will learn about a simple tool,

A simple yet effective tool to flip from I can't handle this to let's say what I can handle right now.

So why does your brain jump to I can't do this when things feel too much?

It usually comes down to how you were taught to handle a challenge.

So this thought often takes root in our early life when you were constantly flooded with too much,

Too fast.

Maybe you grew up in a chaotic home where everything felt urgent or maybe a high-pressure school where you were expected to juggle way too many tasks at once.

Your brain's I can't do this is not a judgment of your ability,

It's a shutdown signal that says this feels like too much to handle all at once so I'm going to shut down for now.

So the thought,

This thought you know I can't do this or this you know lesson that we learned early in our life stays alive in our life as an adult through emotional reasoning.

So when you feel overwhelmed your brain assumes that this task is impossible right now so you put it off until it becomes a genuine emergency and when you finally face you know this task under pressure it's hard to think clearly so you struggle and your brain points at that and says see see I told you we can't handle this so it ignores the times you have done the same thing when you felt calmer less rushed or less overloaded.

This you know this thought that I can't do this it doesn't it doesn't just make work harder it makes your entire life shrink.

When I can't do this runs the show you spent more energy thinking about the task than actually doing them you settle for less money fewer opportunities and less growth because you stop applying for roles and you start declining the offers that looks complex you avoid you know whatever that feels too much even if you are objectively capable of doing those things.

So here is one important thing we need to understand your feelings are not facts feeling like you can't do something is just you know a thought passing through your mind it has zero accuracy about your actual ability to finish the task you forfeit the battle before the evidence ever has a chance to show up before you can even prove to yourself that yes I can do this you deserve a life that feels expansive and not lived in a narrow safe zone of avoidance so when your mind says I can't do this whatever this is for you ask yourself what exact part of this can I not do right now and let your mind just you know empty out let everything come out whatever it is that you think you can't do you can pause this if you need more time and then take a deep breath in and out and now ask yourself what is a tiny part of this that I can do right now and let that come to you let that become clear to you so when you do this this helps your mind see that I can't do all of this but I can do this part it breaks the whole journey to the top of the mountain to a single step and then whatever the thing that came up for you that is whatever the tiniest thing is do that for the next five minutes or ten minutes you know whatever the amount of time it takes but yeah just it's like you signed a five minute contract with you that I am going to do this for the next five minutes and what it does is this restores the executive function and proves to your brain that I can do something and then the momentum compounds as the brain learns that overwhelm is manageable through micro winds and after those five minutes you can stop and notice what happened you will realize that while whatever you did wasn't perfect it was doable so you can try doing this you know and train your brain to move from instant know that I can't do this to let's take one step and see what happens so that's all for this video I hope that you found it useful and if you struggle with more negative thoughts or limiting belief feel free to check out my other content on inside timer which is designed to help you break free from your mind-made stories and to live a more meaningful and happy life you have got this even if your brain says you don't so I will see you soon till then take care bye

Thank you Anisha. I like the idea of facing bite size pieces of tasks. Makes me feel calmer.

This was awesome!! Wonderful practice. It brought to mind the phrase and concept of "one day at a time" when you were saying to just do the ONE next step or thing. Just one bite at a time... that is all we can do. 🥰
