Leaves On A Stream (ACT) | For Pain & Physical Discomfort
What if you didn't have to fight every uncomfortable sensation in your body? This 5-minute ACT practice helps you relate differently to physical discomfort by using the "Leaves on a Stream" visualization. When we place a sensation on a leaf and watch it drift by, we practice letting the body's experience move through awareness without fighting it. Listen while sitting or lying comfortably with your eyes closed. (Please do not listen to this practice while driving). If the same sensation returns, or another part of the body asks for your attention, simply notice it and place that sensation on another leaf. Use this for stress, physical discomfort, tension, pain, or anytime your body is asking for your attention. Please remember that this practice does not replace professional medical or psychological care. Over time, with regular practice, you may find it easier to respond to uncomfortable sensations with greater acceptance, gentleness, and psychological flexibility, rather than struggle.
