So take a comfortable position.
You can either sit,
Stand or lie down whatever feels comfortable to you.
Begin by noticing the sounds around you.
For that,
If you feel comfortable,
You are welcome to close your eyes or to lower your gaze so that you can fully focus on the sounds around you.
Noticing the sounds in distance,
So maybe the sound of traffic,
Chirping of birds,
Dogs barking or people talking.
And now notice the sounds around you.
So maybe the sounds in your room,
Like the sound of a clock ticking or your fan moving or even the beautiful sound of you breathing.
Bringing your awareness to your breath and noticing the part of it that catches your attention.
It can either be the way it sounds when you breathe or the feeling of breath in your nostrils.
The cold air being in and the warm air being out.
And in a few moments,
I am going to ask you to invite or be open to the suffering that is in your life right now.
So as we go through that,
If at any moment you feel overwhelmed,
Then you can bring your awareness to your breath and let it be that safe refuge to be aware of.
So now bring to your mind what is it that you are struggling with recently.
Don't choose anything that is the most severe or distressing thing in your life because some of you might be doing this practice for the first time.
So choose a mild to moderate distressful situation from your life that is causing suffering within you.
Once you have chosen a situation,
Try to recall any details related to that situation or that stress.
Notice what are the thoughts that goes in your mind when you think of this situation.
Usually,
As you think about it in this manner,
How do you end up feeling?
What are the emotions that comes up for you that are coming up for you right now?
Can you try to open your heart so you can even visualize the doors to your heart opening to these emotions?
Allowing these emotions to just be here.
Now,
I invite you to place a hand on your heart.
You can even place both your hands if that feel more comfortable.
And can you recognize and give voice to your suffering and say to yourself,
Recognizing the suffering that this is so hard for me.
It's not easy to go through this.
This is a moment of suffering and I don't deserve to suffer like this.
If you are feeling those emotions in some other part of your body,
Then you are welcome to place your hand on that part of your body and say to that emotion that it's okay,
You can be here.
You can even say things like,
I'm here for you.
Say to that part of you that is suffering,
You are not alone,
I am here.
I know that I haven't been here for a while,
But I am here with you now.
I am here with you now.
It's okay,
I am here for you.
I am sorry that you had to suffer for so long all alone.
It must have been so hard to deal with this alone.
But I am here now,
I am here for you,
I am here for you.
If you feel like you can say any kind thing to that part of you that is suffering right now,
Say whatever feels most resonating for you.
You can even massage that part of your body with your hand wherever you are feeling that emotion,
Letting it relax a little bit.
It has been carrying so much for so long,
It deserves some love from you.
If you don't feel like rubbing it or massaging it,
Then you can also gently tap or caress it just like a mother caress the hair of her baby.
Letting that part know that you are here for that part.
If you feel overwhelmed at any moment,
Feel free to take a deep breath or two.
And now lower your hand and bid goodbye to this part.
If you have any last words to say,
Then you can,
Or you can also reassure it that you will come back to comfort it to be there whenever it needs you the most.
You will be there for this part of you.
